Is "world building" a big part of Gaga's music?

This particular comment from youtuber 'Steven in Stereo' caught my ear recently.

He was listening to the BTW album in full and here's what Steven saids when he reached "Americano" (9:25) - "Every song so far has really created a vibe, It's more than just a song, it's world building in a way".

I think he also mentions "world building" again during his ARTPOP reaction aswell.

Anyways what's your take?

Didn't she always said this herself? She sometimes create a persona or have to be a different person for an album. World building is definitely a Gaga thing per album. The aesthetic and sounds builds it all

It absolutely is. It's what makes her projects unique in the pop world. There's not really any notable artists that have done it consistently to the extent she has. It's the heavy influence of theatrics in her work that make it unique. The albums never stop at the music, there is a unique character(s) and universe built in each one. Some people try to say it's inauthentic, but I think Gaga said it best herself she lives half way between reality and fantasy. Those fantastical aspects of her work give so much more opportunity to recontextualize very vulnerable subjects into creative works - almost as if providing them both with a greater suit of armor as well as providing a better context for how these topics *feel*.

It's not that I'm being dishonest - it's just... that I loathe reality
