Its now been updated on Wikipedia at long last to say that DWAS is the lead single, citing this interview as the source. So, that's it, done and dusted. "Disease is the real lead single!" truthers can seethe. We officially have confirmation that the lead single of Mayhem is a #1 worldwide smash! :bye:

Please enlighten me. The track/sketch was originally made by Bruno and co.

If you remember, Sine from above was also Elton's idea, and the song ended up on a Gaga album, that doesn't mean it was supposed to be standalone or released for an album of Elton's.

I posted here without checking on Wikipedia, thinking that the ones in charge of the album's page wouldn't allow it.

The real question is: was Happy Mistake originally meant for Mayhem? Because she literally sings about being a broken mirror.

Just to throw this out there. I believe DWAS was intended for Harlequin and Happy Mistake for Mayhem :alsemanche:

DWAS was written by Bruno at first, he reached out to Gaga to finish it, it wasn't written for any album.

I believe Happy Mistake was a song that didn't make the cut for Chromatica but was reworked for the Harley character and ended up on Harlequin but don't quote me on that.

I'm actually super relieved Happy Mistake didn't make the cut for Chromatica 'cause god knows what Bloodpop would have done to it.

But yeah, it thematically fits very well with Mayhem. I hope it finds a place on the tour setlist

Sine wasn't released months before Chromatica as a standalone single :laughga:

Y'all just have to accept that some people have different lines in the sand than you.

DWAS goes great on Mayhem in your opinion? You've got no problem with it being there? You don't mind the shallow and greedy motivation for putting it there? Cool 👍 happy for you! Truly!

Some of us feel differently. And that's ok :laughga:

can we stop pretending this song was meant to be on mayhem when she literally said otherwise already? it was added because it was an unexpected hit. end of story.

I’m ready for the meltdowns when the song fits on the album, the entire run isn’t Disease/Abracadabra, and these same people are upset that there ARE other songs like it. Gaga said every song is different from the next. We think we know MAYHEM, but we really don’t know for sure. We have 3 songs, and each is unique. (Abracadabra sounds like if Judas were on Chromatica, Disease is really unlike anything she’s ever done, and DWAS is a very retro themed ballad.) Yes, the song may have been slapped on, but Jesus Christ there are more important things in life. Plus, we are getting a brand new Gaga album, our 7th chapter, in 2 weeks!! :D

Edit: As a side note, and as further proof that there are so many different types of songs on MAYHEM, she said in The Rolling Stones interview that there is ONE other song that is like Disease that she is very proud of and especially excited for the fans to hear. I’m super curious to know which it is. Do we think it was Abracadabra just in the way that they have similar dark vibes? My guess is no, but who knows!)

I still don’t understand why so many Gaga fans hate that Gaga has a smash hit single that she decided to slap onto the new album lol

He (nor Gaga) will never admit it :laughga: I think the best we can do is wait til album is out to see if the song seems to fit or not

It won't fit... :ladyhaha: Everyone who listened to the album said that (some even said that you can skip DWAS) We don't even need to listen to it to know it doesn't fit, but neither Brown Eyes in The Fame or Yoü And I in Born This Way :abra:

Why y'all so obsessed with convincing yourselves that DWAS wasn't and shouldn't be on the album :laughga:

Even if it was a choice made later, geez artists are allowed to do that ****.

If they are lying maybe it's cause y'all are so hard to please?

The gaslighting is wild with some of y'all.... she literally said it was a standalone single. Then, that it was the "missing piece" all along. aka, it wasn't meant for mayhem......and that's okay lol

Gaga herself referred to it as a droplet single be real

Tbh I always assumed this was the lie from her so fans didn’t freak out and out what the sound of Mayhem was when it dropped. Because the second Disease came out the “it’s a separate project” went away - and that was before it even fully was a smash hit

I still think they made the decision in early October, because Interscope did nothing for it until then (aprox.) So I don't think it had to do with Disease underperforming, it's only that the song was a smash hit and they wanted to secure a #1 hit for this album
