hamartia 761
Princess Die - that song is just devastating from start to finish, and really captures that feeling of being... unalive-idal but disregarding your own feelings as being overdramatic, even though you know it's getting desperate, because you care so little about yourself I'm very grateful that she (and myself at that time tbh ) doesn't feel that way anymore. Honourable mentions to Fun Tonight and 1000 Doves, if only it wasn't called 1000 Doves lol

Kayi 2,410
How could I describe Gaga's lyricism...? I feel like she likes to sing songs from characters points of view (Judas, Bloody Mary, Abracadabra, Disease, Yoü and I, etc...) to speak about topics that resonnates with personal subjects or to speak about real causes (Americano, Alejandro, etc...). She also likes to do several cultural references (Bible, Greek Mythology, Alchemy, Pop culture, Cinema, Fashion, etc...). She has her own expressions (bubble dreams, disco stick, Lavender blonde, skeleton guns, etc...) and does personal references (Camino roads, Rivington Rebels, Cherry pie, etc...). There's some expressions that she really likes and re-use in her songs ("Rain on me a millions" in Diamond Heart, "Rain on Me" in Rain on Me, "To the cry of a thousand doves" in X Dream demo and "And I'll be flying like a thousand doves" in 1000 doves). She references her song titles or lyrics in other songs. She infuse her lyricism with double-entendre (in Poker Face the "Fck her face" part) but also double-meaning or triple-meaning (Bad Romance is about her falling in love with Dada. But it's also about her fear of love bc she likes toxicity.)... Her songs can be interpretated in many ways. She likes to do sensual lyrics with deeper meaning. She uses onomatopoeia repetitions to rythms her songs. It's a way sometimes to emphasis on ideas or it's word games. So basically a good Gaga song use these postmodern and edgy elements. So Bad Romance, ARTPOP, Bloody Mary, X Dreams, Marry The Night, Paparazzi, Replay, Monster, Alejandro, Speechless, Yoü and I, Abracadabra. hELXIG 42,576
The first one that comes to mind is Edge of Glory. It's a beautifully written piece about living life to the fully before death. When I think about her sitting with her grandfather on his death bed and talking about how freeing that final moment before death it, it makes me emotional I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.
