monketsharona 66,589
Gaga’s single “Abracadabra” came together spontaneously. “She just heard something immediately, and grabbed the microphone and started flowing in the room,” says Watt. “Once there’s this initial kind of thing she always runs to the piano because then it becomes a song, and then what are the chords and there’s this crazy fun synth part and then where can it go… Once you came up with the chords for the other parts then we recorded that on other synths… You keep running between the control room and the live room, the control room and the live room.” The making of “Die With a Smile” was as old-school as it gets. “It was a really long day and night,” says Watt. “Bruno was there with [producer/songwriter] James Fauntleroy, and they just started playing together. Gaga wrote out all the chords and all the changing bass notes so she could know what she was going to play, Bruno was on the guitar, and they kind of just started breaking down the song together, really singing together and organically arranging their harmonies… Everything on that song is live. Live drums, live bass, live guitars, live vocals. Listen to them sing — it’s raw.” https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-features/lady-gaga-mayhem-rolling-stones-grammy-andrew-watt-interview-1235276727/ Edited 14 hours ago by monketsharona 4 1

She was breaking down the song...so she could know what she was going to play She didn't help writting the bass. The way it's written, it was a memo for her to play. So it seems that bruno and the producer basically played them the song and gaga took notes to join in. As we basically already knew. 4 1

I'm mostly joking bestie, for the laymen (like me) he gives the impression she had a bigger part in it, maybe that's one of the intentions of the article Spoiler I'm still using this article when people mention DWAS isn't a gaga song The melody that you choose can rescue you

Plus when Bruno called her he said he had this song shed be great in suggesting the foundational bulk of the song was in fact already done. She may have added to it or changed some things but I wouldnt delude myself into the narrative that its "her" song. 1
