Did Gaga Ever Talk About Ukraine or Palestine?

She is a celebrity and NOT a politican. :interestinga:

She can pick and choose what to support and be vocal about  but she doesnt have to speak about ALL the things happenning in the world right now.

She just spoke up about trans rights and have a non-profit for troubled/bullied kids. She is doing her part. She isnt a saint to try and be vocal about everything happenning in the world.

I remember some here used to be upset at her for not speaking out about stuff going on at their countries at the time but they are targeting their efforts in wrong places and should be contacting their local politicians or non-profits directly helping to the cause.

I get it though. She is our fav, we love her, we want her supporting our cause. But it isnt realistic.

On an episode of the View after she did the halftime show (back in 2017), Whoopi described Gaga as someone who "IS political without having to BE political". I think that sentiment was well said and carries through to today about what Gaga does and stands for. I think we all can assume and agree with her views and in times that she does speak up now- it happens more organically and does not feel as if she did it just because it was "the thing" fore celebrities to do.

I have no doubt that she would speak about it if given the correct setting, so that dos not mean we should just assume she does not care.

People feel so disenchfranchised by actual politicians that they're desperate for anyone with a platform to use their voice for good, especially when the world is just so awful of a place and the average person can do so little. But at the same time, it's not like someone who supports their respective country's facist takeover is going to be listening to Lady Gaga of all people. The brain worms are far too deep now for these people to be won over by logic and compassion. :koons:

I would love for Gaga to be more politically outspoken, but I think the "peace and love" approach is the least out of touch someone of her fame level can be nowadays. She isn't out there palling around with Bezos or open MAGA supporters like some liberal pop girls (driving that cyber truck was a choice tho :reductive:) and that's got to account for something. I think sometimes being vocal about one issue that's personal to you is also far more sincere than trying to champion every cause.

She's a smart and emotionally intelligent person so I don't doubt she is on "our side", but her saying that is just to make us feel better isn't doing anything. If anything her general lack of political involvement during the last US election perhaps hinted at a frustration with their then current administration, but that's probably wishful thinking on my part :enigma: As long as she's putting her coins towards something important, I'll take it.

If anything she chooses to remain silent after what she went through in Indonesia. She has the right to.

She's probably not educated enough on the matter to make any public statement about it. I will never understand the US' obsession with having celebrities speaking on issues they aren't qualified to talk about :oprah:

She's a musician, she's probably aware of most social issues going on in the world, to the same degree most of us are. Which is: a surface level understanding of the subject.

Some of you REALLY love and demand faux activism, it's like you want her to be performative so bad, it's crazy :awkney:. Is it for bragging points on Twitter? do you guys want to be able to say "my fave talked about this issue publicly, she's a risk-taker" to other stans when arguing online? :laughga:; because that's pretty much all it will mean in the end: brownie points on the internet and quite literally nothing else.

I'm glad she's not irresponsible enough to jump on whatever social issue is going on, to give her uneducated two cents on social media, for online validation. Celebrities are not the ones we should be seeking information on political issues from :iamfair:

I really love Lady Gaga because of her music and artistry but what got me coming back were her heart and activism.

Big felt, though my main concerns lie here at home in the US.

No, Gaga never directly mentioned either Ukraine or Palestine.

The zionist rumors are from her love for Israel, which I don't personally see as problematic. She said Israel (or Tel Aviv specifically, I forget which) was "beautiful" while performing there. That's not an endorsement of the government's genocide, just an appreciation of her fans' home.

And everyone in this thread giving you sh*t for this question is full of it tbh 'cause you're allowed to have questions about one of your faves, especially when her activism is a huge reason why you follow her. Don't take their nonsense to heart.

There's an issue that's important to you, you wanted to know if she's said anything. That's fine. Don't let anyone make you feel bad for it.

Anyway, I think her silence is more responsible on her end rather than apathetic 'cause I doubt she's very educated on the two conflicts beyond praying privately for peace. It would be nice for her to show steady but quieter support like Billie does. But again, I don't think she's prepared to be a spokesperson in those conflicts so it's cool.

Regarding Palestine/Israel I think she's wise not to say anything. Whatever she says won't go down well with a lot of people.

I'd rather celebrities kept quiet unless it's something they are really passionate about and want to fight for.

None of us are here just for the music alone. We all follow her for personal reasons, many of us love how outspoken she is.

It's not that we expect celebrities to change the world with their voices (though they have that capability sometimes) but knowing that your views align with an artist you love 'cause that artist is outspoken about issues you care deeply about? That matters tbh.

I wouldn't have ever became a fan of Gaga without her being so outspoken on sexual assault.

Others love her 'cause she's usually so outspoken about LGBTQ issues.

The music is part of it but it's nowhere near all of it.

OP I thought had a legit question but it doesn't concern me the slightest she's been quiet about these countries.

My fave Gaga interview about politics came before the 2012 presidential election.  A radio interview in Cleveland.

She no surprise supported Obama but more or less just urged everyone to vote for who they thought felt right for them.

2012- such simple times in retrospect

there's many things she's never spoken about, things like climate change come to mind despite her home burning

i think she only speaks on things she's educated about rather than just talking out her ass... I'm the same

I don’t think she’s spoken about the directly but indirectly. Fans pointed out on Twitter that she stopped supporting Starbucks.

She’s been speaking a lot about being resourceful and repurposing recently. I’m guessing her with FireAid, and when she visited an evacuation center in 2018 is still showing her supporting.

THIS. I’m sure there are soooo many celebrities that make statements on various world events just so they can pat them selves on the back. Making a statement in no way means there is genuine thought behind it, rather it’s performative activism. People demanding celebrities to make a statement is essentially demanding performative activism, bc at the end of the day we will never know if they truly care.

I’m asking this as someone who truly wants to understand. Is someone who wants Israel to still exist as a country considered a Zionist? I feel this term gets thrown around in an all-encompassing way
