Taylor Swift asked to cut ‘SNL’ sketch about her girl squad

While looking back at the series creator’s legacy with SNL, the publication uncovered one moment from 2015 when the pop superstar apparently personally called “Saturday Night Live” creator Lorne Michaels to ask that he cut a sketch poking fun at her famous girl squad. Showrunners had initially reached out to Swift to ask if she would appear in the skit, according to the magazine; in addition to declining, the 14-time Grammy winner requested that the whole thing be cut.

Michaels’ response? “Taylor, I do not negotiate with terrorists,” he apparently told her over the phone, suavely tossing a piece of popcorn into the air and catching it in his mouth.

There were two “Bad Blood” sketches that ultimately aired on the show. The first followed Aidy Bryant and Vanessa Bayer as two young women trapped in a post-apocalyptic world ruled by Swift and her squad.

The second sketch, called “Tina & Amy’s Dope Squad,” starred Tina Fey and Amy Poehler who form a squad that includes Amy Schumer, Gayle King and Robert Downey Sr.

The Vulture report said that after the first sketch aired, Swift sent Michaels flowers and a note that read, “I hope there’s no bad blood.”

Let's not forget Gaga's done something similar when the king of parody, Mr. Weird Al Yankovic, made "Perform This Way". 

Some people just don't like to be the butt of the joke. It was nice of them to reach out and invite her to be a part of it. Shame she turned them down 'cause that could have been a good moment for her

Plus the 1989 era was the peak of her body dysmorphia and eating disorder struggles, not surprised she took steps like this. It tracks with where her mind would have been at the time.
