kupo 201
Saw from Zilla's status that Gaga was sent a link to this thread, so, if I know she's going to see this, it seems appropriate to say more than a get well (though by all means a huge GET WELL), but also a thank you. Art is sort of my life. Studying it, writing about it, making it. And as much as art is my life, and as much as there are countless artists who have created things that have touched me, inspired me, and challenged me, it's so very rare for me to feel the genuine urge to personally thank an artist for sharing their work with me. Chris Marker, before he passed, was one such artist I would have loved to thank for opening my mind as he did, forcing it to expand with his rich observations, rooted in science and history, but imbued with an almost mystical import. Edward Hopper I would have loved to thank, too, for finding so pure an expression of loneliness and beauty. And Gaga, you are one of those rare artists, too, who I've always wanted to thank. It was in college that I first started to learn about queer theory, and thus finally found a philosophical outlook that felt right to me. Finally, it felt like I sort of understood myself a little better. And I can't tell you how amazing and delightful it was to find an artist that embodied that philosophy at the same time I was learning about it, and who was so completely committed to living it, and not just that, but living it in the mainstream, in the spotlight. Making it real, and no longer merely a matter of abstruse theory. It's invigorating. I want to thank you for demonstrating that the idea that you can "make yourself" is not a tired cliche, but is a legitimate possibility, and a liberating and politically radical way to live. I don't know that you taught me I could "make myself"--it's something we hear from so many people trying to inspire us and push us forward. But you--more than anybody else--thawed my cynicism by showing me that it can be done. And that is an incredible achievement. So: thank you. And get well soon so you can come back and keep telling your story.

We will be here for you every step of the way. I keep you in my prayers each day. Rainbowgynous 0
I hope with all my heart that she's feeling great, especially today... And I also hope she can find the strength to stick up a big, heartfelt middle finger to all the thirsty b---hes who don't care about her health or how she feels, but keep pestering her for tweets or ARTPOP. (Though it would be nice to get some tweets again to be honest, I really do miss her quirky, random babble in my timeline.) And of course that she has an awesome, pain free birthday!
