Aura is the best song on ARTPOP

Aura is definitely the most ARTPOP and art”RAVE” song on the album, and it’s a shame that that rave element doesn’t rly make another appearance after Aura, (I know Swine is heavy but it’s more just hard club EDM, not really rave genre). Aura is my top 3. It's just pure c*nty Gaga and has so many moments of imaginative genius in it (like the evil laughter which is so inspired imo) and I love that she bought the instrumental off Infected Mushroom because their sound is so much more interesting and unique compared to the more typical and dated, commercialised EDM that Zedd does. It makes me wish that Gaga branched out and bought more tracks from other alternative DJ’s across the globe, because I can’t help but think that ARTPOP really needed a more diverse selection of sounds overall.

The only real issue with Aura is that it has a big structural problem. The choruses (while vocally immaculate and the drums that come in later are sensational), still pop out of nowhere and kinda grind the song to a sudden halt. It works OK for the first chorus, but it’s more obvious in the second chorus. That “Dance, Sex, Art, Pop” bridge really builds towards something big but then it’s just cut right off again for that almost acapella chorus. I understand Gaga and Zedd’s intension but I'm sorry the execution is a bit jarring and clumsy. You can tell that, when incorporating that very long intro, they struggled to squeeze all these big ideas together into a 4 minute song. Had they managed to make this song just flow a bit more harmoniously, and made that second chorus bigger and more climactic, then the song would be perfect. (But this problem is common in a lot of songs on ARTPOP).

(Also I know most fans prefer the demo version with the screaming vocals, but I’m personally so glad she changed that! The instrumental is so intricate, loud and chaotic, it really needed a lighter vocal layered over the top to compliment it. It’s far more nuanced and balanced, and she sounds c*nty and sexy imo. The screaming version just clashes with the instrumental and sounds messy af on an already messy song.)

I'm fine, Ta

Yesss although I vastly prefer the demo version, I cannot fathom why she downplayed her vocals in the verses for the album version:rip:

I want her to do more songs like Aura so bad:giveup:

I know I want to ask her personally why she thought it was better to downplay the vocals.  I always wondered that. A lot of songs from madonnas rebel heart had waayyy better demos too. Like just leave the song how it is dang it lol 😵‍💫
