Again, i know it was the idea of the song because Gaga would never portrait a message like that, but lyrically it could be more fortunate. Again, i know it was the idea of the song because Gaga would never portrait a message like that, but lyrically it could be more fortunate. i find it ironic people are fighting over the "don't play with me" and stretching it to fit whatever meaning they want when right before she says "i'm no toy for a real boy" which is way worse and requires much less logical leaps. but i guess you could also interpret that as "real boys don't play with toys" idk. either way the wording "real boy" is just extremely weird and dated imo. 1 hour ago, Ziggy said: I think for plastic doll the issue is it’s a very obvious metaphor and performed as obviously as you’d think. So you kind of expect it to maybe do more and it doesn’t. Abracadabra on the other hand doesn’t really purport to be about anything than setting the dance floor on fire, slay! It’s just a dance track. Judging them by the standards they set themselves I think is what changes reception i agree it's definitely not a what-was-i-made-for level song but for anyone to claim gaga has phenomenal lyrics they really need to relisten to her songs. i'm half convinced she needs lyrics like "ma ma ma ma" because she doesn't really know what else to say half the time. no shade, I love gaga and her music (one of her top fans in the UK), but she definitely isn't who i will go towards for good lyrics. as far as songs go plastic doll was at least trying to tell a different story from just "i want your [stupid/bad/whatever] love". i swear there was a meme i can't find about gaga's singles having a different line about wanting or not wanting someone's love. and sure, plastic doll is still a love song ... but at least it's going somewhere a bit more different. abracadabra is literally "ABRACADABRA love and death love and death death or love tonight". Even the lyrics to some of her biggest hits like Shallow are really random and abstract and vague. I think the album with the best lyrics is probably Joanne actually. Hydrangea 5,561 Posted yesterday at 09:49 PM Share Posted yesterday at 09:49 PM Why are we arguing about gender roles when the song is clearly about not being fake and playing around with her like a toy and having some respect for her? Clumsy metaphors aside you’re all reaching way too far Say goodnight, angel eyes 1

One of the most misfortunate Gaga lyricsl I'm sure that was not her intention, the ambiguous writing will always bug me in that sense. Definitely unfortunate but I think the reason nobody kicked up a fuss about it is bc it’s Gaga, like it’s so obvious she didn’t mean that lmao. IsaacUnbound 0 Posted yesterday at 10:01 PM Share Posted yesterday at 10:01 PM On the standard album, it’s my least favorite. On the remix album, it’s my MOST favorite. This us the only correct opinion.
IWantYourLove 1,232 Posted yesterday at 10:02 PM Share Posted yesterday at 10:02 PM I enjoy the song overall, but that bridge is sonically one of my all-time favourite things I’ve ever heard in a piece of music. The beat/bass at the start of the bridge before the lyrics started made me feel weird emotions that I hadn’t felt before and haven’t ever felt again. Idk why either and then I also love the melody of the bridge. Admittedly, parts of the rest of the song let it down, but that bridge just… does smth to me idk
