Its an important tool for rookie acts to expand their fanbase and chance of success. Especially now older traditional promo methods are obsolete and indie clubs and night life in general are suffering in many markets.

So many breakout acts of the last 12 months were support acts for major artists within the last 24 months.

I like this perspective. It reminds me back to early mid 00s and most concerts I went to had opening acts, even saw Gaga when she was an opening act. I guess it’s been so long since I’ve been to a show that had an opening act  that I forgot the impact that opportunity can have.

I’m confused. But I’ve definitely been to three stadium shows of hers and the only one that had an opening act was JWT in San Fran. Its not an awful idea, but I’ve certainly gotten used to, and enjoy the edging effect of just waiting in anticipation for Gaga at her shows lol

my point is that without opening acts you can't open the stadium and thus you can't start the show. they're called opening acts for a reason.

This still makes no sense. I’m not disagreeing, I’m just confused. I’ve literally been at Gaga stadium concerts (JWT annd CBT) and been let inside of the stadium HOURSSSS before she even touched the stage let alone started the show. So I don’t understand what you mean by not being able to open the stadium without one?

You've been let in thanks to the opening acts. They are the acts that open the stadium hence the name. Without them, you wouldn't have been able to enter.

Girl… I don’t know what you’re on, but I’m happy to have some of it. I’m 35 years old, I’ve been to many stadiums concerts in my life, of many artists. I’ve been to plenty, Gaga includes, that have NO/ZERO opening acts and I’ve been able to get into the stadium literally several hours and then some before the concert, enjoy some drinks, run around and find friends, or like the times I have been barricade at a Gaga stadium show, have literally been let in 4+ hours before show time. No opening acts. I literally have no clue what you’re talking about, I’m trying to make sense of it, and your responses continue to make zero sense. How can I be let in somewhere thanks to the opening act, when there was literally no opening act? Make it make sense please. Thanks.
