Cssomeone 1,593
Some of you guys might hate him, but you can't deny he's one of the most influential music critics/reviewers on Youtube. Even SZA has said she tried to produce better music when he said one of her albums could have been better, and Drake DMed him when he gave one of his albums a low score. If he says something is good, lots of people end up listening to it (myself included, as I've discovered many interesting artists because of him). I have some (straight) friends who love indie music and would normally never listen to Gaga listening to ARTPOP when He reviewed it. He might have been harsh with Gaga, but he gives her credit when credit is due. Edited 22 hours ago by Cssomeone
Landonaffect 6
Who is this? I gotta say, without gaga daily I would be so out of the loop on all pop culture, thanks to this fan base for keeping me in the know! Critics deserve the stigmas they have against them. Minimizing Halseys health story and wanting 17 year old Britney Spears to grow up on drugs is proof enough. The fact that people in this thread are using the same high horse mentality is even worse. Congrats, yall are part of the problem. I agree, it's right that ppl criticize his mistakes (I didn't knew for the Britney thing tho wtf... ) but be fr he doesn't deserves to be diabolized. I responded to the replies about his subjective reviews bc you can't blame someone for not having the same tastes as you. I didn't readed the thread comments fully bc I saw that it was really messy honestly... (Please guys stop making war it makes me sad when GGdaily argue). You're right human make mistakes and they need to know when they are wrong. But I don't like the idea of cancelling someone bc they made a mistake that didn't harmed nobody directly. He might won't apologize publicly, but he saw that everyone criticized his lack of empathy on social networks and possibly changed his mind. As a public figures, both Halsey and Fantano (and every other celebrities) expose themselves to criticism. And thanksfully, most of the ppl felt empathy for Halsey (Gen Z are a way more empathic than Millenials were back in time). But yeah, making public apologize is a thing but thinking what you say is another. And sometimes public figures prefer to stay mute about controversies. But their silence doesn't mean that they don't care. It's more focused on public image when public figures speak online. That's why it's partly performative. Anyway he was wrong but again it's not the worst thing that can be said or done, we should move on. We teach, and we learn to move on sometimes. But Halsey's case is pretty interesting tho... Yep that made me super sad when I learnt that she had cancer, that some of her loved ones gave her up, etc... I listened to her album and I loved it. But irl, we are aware that some people are very sick, poor and alone...but we don't all go to help them by ourselves bc we don't have the means, the will or the courage to. Also human brain isn't conditioned to be impacted by the misfortune of the others, it focuses on our relatives to assure our survival... So yeah we're living in a super individualistic society and our brain aren't enough empathic our degree of identification is limited. That's maybe why we feel like we have more power with social medias and it's a good thing. Your passion, your love, is a precious resource, use it the more you can to protect your loved ones. ... Btw this guy never deserved constant bullies, d- threats and revenge p*rn things (I bet it's a Swiftie that leaked the images...). I'm here to take a break from university homeworks :/

I should specify that the Britney growing up on drugs thing was said by an NME writer in a review for BOMT in 1999. For me, the issue comes with this being a repeat problem with critics. Misinformation, bullying, hate, etc. Lady Gaga herself said "Critics are bullies." in 2011. I agree that we shouldn't be too harsh ourselves, and I am guilty of that, but I find it difficult to not be angry just when I see repeat problems, ya know? It's just unfortunate all around. he/him/his

True, thanksfully I feel like Gen Z (I'm a gen Z too) are more comprehensive with artists. Like for exemple back in time, I feel like medias were allowed to bodyshame artists or mocks fans for exemple, but now they have to be nicer cause society evolved a little bit. I'm here to take a break from university homeworks :/

There are bad situations, but we definitely have made progress in some places. I think the best thing to do is to speak for what we believe in, and more people will hopefully open up, even in trying times like right now in 2025. he/him/his
