Trump has basically threatened to weaponize the federal government against his political opponents. He’s threatened to sue every person and org that says anything unfavorable about him for defamation (and would likely leverage the federal justice department toward that end). Similarly, he’s given clemency to white nationalist militia leaders who committed political violence on his behalf on January 6th (folks who were convicted of SEDITIOUS CONSPIRACY for trying to overthrow the federal government), effectively legitimizing and normalizing pro-Trump political violence in the US. He’s also in the process of trying to consolidate financial power in the executive branch in order to leverage federal funding for political purposes, so I suppose that also plays a role. It’s very, very bad.
