I think it's a marketing tactic. Having the Mayhem cover hopefully means the general public will connect the two, generating excitement and anticipation for March 7th.

If anything, we'll get a single cover if they decide to release Abra physicals for sales (boosting its position for charts) and/or a remix by a popular/up-and-coming dj on Feb. 7th or 14th (the 14th coinciding with SNL performance on the 15th).

I agree, an original cover would be nice.

It does make me sad that they just used the standard album cover for Abra's single cover, it's such a dumb trend in the industry right now - Like you said it literally takes 5 minutes to make a single cover so why don't they do it? Makes no sense

Maybe it's a way to raise awareness about the actual album cover?

Or they could be waiting a few days to release an official cover for a boost

Two of the most alarming pop music trends from the streaming era that I was scared LG7 would fall victim to are single cover-less singles and tacked on song for stream/unclear what lead single is. Look at where we are now.
