Killa 17,259
I disagree, this song has more indeed more viral probabilities and even to nail some radio formats. Also to connect to the core audience. But for a new era, starting with something really different sounding but at the same time that you understand oh this is like and evolution of who she was, is really important. But even more if the joker film had been successful a more experimental track might have been better received also by some of the movie audience. I think this order ready stablishes the theme well. Marks a clear difference, otherwise it could actually seem like we're still in chromatica, and instead of frontloading the enthusiasm builds it. Well we'll see what other surprises but at least the zombie boy and dance in the shadow might still come. I feel like, at least for fans, this way things really got propelled forward and the album now has the right momentum for the release.
Caden 406
100%. Abracadabra is way more commercial such an earwarming and catchy melody from the verses unlike Disease.
Linus Gaga 8,169
Nothing can beat the outro of disease Hit me a message and say hi !
Guest
Disease is more of a mouthful than Abracadabra. Both are good. Two different themes. Disease deserves to be the lead single.

Abracadabra is incredibly dancey, did not expect it to be like that but love it too. No way, this song gives me headache. Let alone someone who doesn’t like such music at all (which is most people likely). I do agree abracadabra should have been the lead, but rather lead happening now. Disease back in October was sort of no impact and the timing was worse than Grammies imho

onionring 469
Disagree I'm happy with DWAS/Disease as first singles. I do however, dread the fact the the album is not titled Phantom of The Dancefloor SUCHHH a cool title but I do recognize that it kinda implies that the album is within a single genre but can you imagine thee impact that would have had
Arcanum 5,150
Strongly disagree. It would be bashed left and right because of FAD bombing. I Wantth your Love...I Wantth your Love.
southpaw773 3,175
I think it was supposed to (even clues from that magazine article about the lead point to Abra instead of Disease; an old school Gaga banger)…but with everything going on, and Joker they pushed things a bit and Disease was a nice palette cleanser to ride things over til things really took off. Mother of Puppies 36,267
It’s probably now my favorite music video of hers (the ones that can compete are BR, MTN & Alejandro) oh and the timing now is perfect Edited February 8 by Mother of Puppies THEY CALL ME LADY MOP
HausofGabo 1,262
In my opinion it’s the perfect timing. It allowed Die with a Smile to shine and get a grammy and Disease to introduce the album + now everyone’s excited to hear what else is on Mayhem
SevenWonder 4,279
I don't know if it should have been the lead or not, but I know that releasing a song in October was a mistake. Which, of course, we know only in hindsight. Because no one knew that DWAS would smash the way it did or that Joker 2 would bomb. However, because of those two things, I think ANY song released by Gaga in late October would have had a tepid response. Including Abra. It was a super weird time. I think Gaga actually lucked out by releasing Abra now. It's almost like it's a fresh start for her. And it clearly worked.
