Tyler1992 2,264
I think it’s better saved as the second single if we want MAYHEM to be a marathon of an album rollout. Disease feels like the sacrificial lamb to get us through the winter, and to signal LG7s themes, while waiting out FAD, and DWAS’ chokehold. Abracadabra feels like the real welcoming moment into MAYHEM. The train has officially left the station. If we insist on talking about „the gp“ then I still think for most of them Shallow is the last song they connect with her. If Abra was the lead single they would have been more like „ohh, there she goes again with the word salat and the group dancing and stuff“ and the impact of her returning to form after 10 years would have gotten lost in the mix In that sense, yeah I could see that. It makes sense
southpaw773 3,282
I bet it was supposed to be and with the album coming later they added Disease as it was near Halloween and something for the fans Like a poem said by a lady in red
Vengaboy 1,281
I don’t care if it’s not the first single tbh. What matters is that it’s here. And it’s f*cking fire!!!! I’m just glad it is a single at all!! 3 1
Jennie Kim 7,006
It'll flop just as hard as Disease so it makes no difference. Edited February 3 by Jennie Kim

And most of them refer to BR, maybe Pokerface, Shallow and then Disease since it’s relatively recent and made waves on the internets. „GP“ might know more songs of hers, but don’t necessarily connect them to her, since she has been an extremely versatile kween these past years. Abra is instantly connectable to her core Sound people recognize and know her for
Murakami27 4,512
I love Disease and will defend it till the day I die. But it was a good lead to set the tones and themes. It may not have been the hit we all wanted, but it paved the way for Abra and Mayhem to come. 7

Sepsami 18,833
No. Abracadabra would have gotten lost in the success of DWAS just like Disease did. Atleast this way it has a chance of having a chart run. I think most people would also consider Abra to be more GP-friendly than Disease but Disease was a treat for the fans, it finally gave us the dark pop that we have been asking more. Abra sounds like it could have been part of Chromatica (which is nothing bad btw) but Disease helped with differentiating Mayhem as an album. 3

Guest
I mean, when Disease was released a lot of people were saying how it was a "return to form/oldGa" and how great of a lead single it was... and then it flopped. I honestly think the same would have happened with Abracadabra and I don't really care tbh. I think Gaga is way past the necessity of having lots of #1s and that's for the better. That being said, you're forgetting our true lead single, our lord and savior DWAS
