I think one meaning is about journey to fame. Lady in Red is the pact you have to pay, the sacrifice for fame. There is no return. She also sings about choosing a road on the west side. (West coast, California, Hollywood)

So far I've seen some katycats complain pathetically about it. "Katy does it and she gets dragged. Gaga does it and she gets praised"

Don't come for me but I'm not loving the lyrics. I love the production and melodies but something about the lyrics is not connecting with me. That bit about the floor being on fire is awesome though. I wish there was more of that energy throughout the whole song. The video is insane though. Choreo!!!!
