Can someone make a gif of the moment where she’s on her back but pushing herself with her feet during “feel the beat under your feet”

obsessed with that moment

So the rumor of sampling Siouxsie was obviously fake right? Or anyone hear similarities with any of their song?

I def hear spellbound in the pre chorus - the ‘lady in red’ part sounds like it. Not enough to be a noticeable sample, but as someone that religiously listens to her, I picked it up the first time I heard it

edit: and I didn’t know that that was a rumour! I was told about that after I posted wondering if anyone else heard it lol so it wasn’t confirmation bias or anything. It’s like two of my favourite worlds have collided I’m so stoked

So far I've seen some katycats complain pathetically about it. "Katy does it and she gets dragged. Gaga does it and she gets praised"

(They're complaining about the returning to the roots thing)

So funny considering Katy’s first major album was literally the trendy emo-esq pop-rock and then for her next album she went dance pop and watered down/cartoonified Gaga’s sound and aesthetic to make it more digestible. Dance music was never her roots.

The difference between Gaga and Katy is that Gaga was always a dance musician who has largely stayed true to her roots while pushing her aesthetic and her genre further. She blew up because she was interesting and different and she carved a lane for herself that was unique to her.

Katy never carved a lane for herself, she diluted what was actually unique and interesting in pop culture in the 2010’s and made it easier to consume. Once dance pop was no longer a dominant trend, her return to the genre felt boring and uninspired because the majority moved on from dance pop and her exploration of dance music was NEVER interesting, it was catchy and a basic interpretation of dance music and every song she release since Teenage Dream felt like it could be slapped onto another deluxe.

In comparison: Just Dance was a europop inspired party song, Bad Romance was an operatic German house record about toxic love, Born This Way was a gay anthem that had a disco chord progression with gospel elements, Applause was an EDM synth-heavy track with Bowie inspired vocals about the art of performance, Perfect Illusion was dance-rock banger about falling out of love, Rain On Me was a future-house track about recovery and alcoholism, Abracadabra is an industrial, Eurodance, disco, post-punk mashup with poetic, metaphor filled lyrics about ???.

Yes, of course there are callbacks in Gaga’s work because it’s the same artist, writer and singer exploring electronic music and dance music. A Gaga album should sound like Gaga… but each album of hers is still distinctive.  While her contemporaries tried to dilute her work to reach more mass appeal, Gaga appealed to more than just the lowest common denominator and garnered a fanbase that was interested in her unique perspective and approach to music and performance.

Gaga brought her authentic theatre experience, love of heavy metal, pop sensibilities, lower east-side aesthetic and creativity and injected it into her dance pop music. When she “returns to her dance roots” (as if her last major release wasn’t Chromatica) it’s not only a return to her unique brand of dance music but it’s also a reflection of how those same sensibilities have grown, evolved and changed as she explores new sounds and imagery.

It’s like comparing The Rolling Stones to Hot Chelle Rae (that band who had that one song “Tonight, Tonight”). Like yeah I GUESS they technically both make popular rock music, but one experiments with blues, funk, hard rock, new wave, classic rock, punk rock, disco, soul, soft rock etc and one makes radio-friendly pop rock. There’s going to be a difference in reception if both make an album that “goes back to their roots”.

Lmao, but Gaga does it tastefully and creatively... :ladyhaha:

Does Swifties or Carpenters like it ?

From what I’ve seen, the bulk of every fanbase (bar the weird Katy stans, the nice once love it) adores it :firega: Beyoncé stans are on the frontlines of the ‘there’s nobody doing it like Gaga she’s so back’ parade, or at least on my tl lol

It's there, but it's a single, not on the album yet.
