This is a great thread, with some nice contributions about MJ, but on the story itself I would urge caution (mind you, I always urge caution).

Am I right in saying that the source for this story is one random person typing the words 'Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars were apparently rehearsing Michael Jackson's Earth Song' ? Any of us could do that, I could do it myself from the comfort of my palatial residence here in Dublin.

Also, treating this song with the reverence it deserves would be a major project, but she was belting out Shallow and ARUTW only a couple of nights ago. Then again, maybe this HAS been a secret project ....

Listen, I absolutely love this idea, and the song. But I’m getting such a laugh out of the Idea that everyone expected this grungy, dark, club stomper Abracdabra at the Grammys and ended up with Earth Song acoustic 😂

 But let’s hope both happen!

Gaga, mother, icon, queen, if this is true, MJ's art is absolutely sacred to me. I will be hypercritical no matter what but this has the potential to be the greatest thing I've ever witnessed.

I'm gonna need the full opera chorus, none of that single version sh*t people always sing.

I'm gonna need some raw but melodic shouting for the end and do not skip any of the lines. I want everything from "WHAT ABOUT CRYING WHALES" to "WHAT ABOUT THE HOLY LAND".

I'm gonna need some guitar slaps for the second verse, most covers just stick to strings and piano and it completely dulls the edge the song is supposed to have.

I need PAIN. I need ANGER. I need to see the PASSION.

As a HUGE MJ and Gaga fan since 2009/2008 respectively I am so pumped for this, but I agree with you…

She needs to give it HER ALL, how she hasn’t covered MJ yet is insane
