FfFfFfFF 58,307
Christie's New York auction house ordered the suspension until February 28 of the auction for the sale of the painting "San Sebastian", by the Spanish painter El Greco, a work of art that belonged to the former collection of the Royal Crown of Romania. The artwork was to be sold by auction on February 5, 2025, government sources told HotNews.ro, but the auction was suspended until the end of February, during which time the painting cannot be returned to its current owner. The work of art will likelyend up at Bucharerest's Art Museum, with other paitings by El Greco. FfFfFfFF 58,307
I want GGD art girlies to share their favorite painting by El Greco below (seen in person and/or virtually) My favorite is his Dormition paiting, which is one of his earliest works and more similar with the art from his native Greece. eifulien 3,044
I've had the chance to visit Spain for the first time in the beginning of this month and I've seen the Museum dedicated to El Greco in Toledo as well as some of his work in El Prado. I found interesting how he was basically rediscovered and reevaluated in the 20th century. Glad the right people appreciated his contribution to the wolrd of art.
