Ethiopia announces the restoration of Holy Trinity Cathedral

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has announced the successful completion of the renovation of the Holy Trinity Cathedral, a two-year-and-four-month project that prioritized preserving the church’s historical value and essence.

According to Administrator of the Holy Trinity Cathedral Aba Sirak Admasu, the renovation was carried out by internationally renowned contractor Varnero Construction.

Following 18 months of meticulous surveying, the project focused on safeguarding manuscripts, artifacts, and other historical items, with an expected lifespan of over 80 years.

Biruk emphasized that the restoration meticulously adhered to the church’s original design and characteristics, ensuring that the renovations reflected the aesthetic of the initial construction.

Damaged artifacts were restored, and aged items were cleaned while preserving their original colors and contents.

He further highlighted the significance of historical sites like the Holy Trinity Cathedral, which houses the tombs of notable figures in Ethiopian history, in attracting international tourists. Preserving this heritage for future generations is a shared responsibility.

GGD being aware of Ethiopia's Solomonic past was not on my bingo card.  

Do you think the real Ark of the Convenant is held at Aksum? A British historian apparently denied it, citing the ark he saw was wooden, but knowing Brit cleoptomancy they probably showed him a fake replica so he won't get tempted. 

The BASE Institute has sent research teams to Ethiopia, Egypt, Israel and Rome and it believes the evidence points to Ethiopia.

Although it has found the actual Ark, it stated, “As unusual as this may sound, the BASE team has uncovered compelling evidence that the Ark may well have been spirited up the Nile River to an eventual resting place in the remote highlands of ancient Kush–modern-day Ethiopia.”

I believe it’s an arc . But not THE ARC . It’s giving shroud of Turin. 
I think the Solomons must come back imo . Only 17 years Derg dictatorship and they don’t want them back ? It smells fishy to me. Emperor Haile Selassie did his best to modernise Ethiopia . And OMG he was dictator bla bla bla . Girly pop, not every country back then was ready for a democracy. Julius Nyerere is a good example of an African politician who modernised his country and bowed out when it was time . And now Ethiopia feels divided because it has so many tribes in government fighting for supremacy . And throwing away such an aspect of their millennial old culture seems like a big waste imo . the Ethiopian people still like their imperial house , it’s only some elite in government who want to be top dog who don’t want a monarch because if they do, they’ll be civil servants again and wont be able to call the shots , literally the bang bang shots that cause civil war.  The government elite are the former nobles who fought for power during the Solomonic times against the imperial court who are happy now to have the whole cake and eat it all. So yeah it’s a republic, but headed mostly by old nobility who pretend to be of the people.
when I was there twice, Ethiopians had mostly good things to say and believe having an emperor back as a figure head of state could help mediate between the tribes , a la the king of Belgium mediating between elected parties to form a coalition. Because now u have the issue where parties who represent tribes pick up arms against each other . I could go on but yeah . Nowadays the Solomons are fighting to get entry visas for the US, they’ve been denied because they can’t prove they have enough money . The visa debacle has been going on for 15 years . And the Ethiopian community in london helps them pay their bills lol

I definitely think there is truth to this, the dynasty had Ancient legitimacy and the power to bring together the various tribes, which are now in open or covert conflict with each other.

Plus it was not the result of foreign rule like in ex-colonies as it was an autochtonous house (even though it claimed Jewish origins in the distant past, they were Ethiopianized and by all acounts an African royal house). 

How was your visit to Ethiopia? It's my goal to experience the country first hand, especially Tigray, Lalibela and Lake Tana. It's always in the back of my mind.
