Tbh for me having unlimited terms is not an issue itself. If the people want to reelect their leaders more than once, why shouldn't we let them? The more important issue here, I think, is that Trump is the candidate, and fascism is on the rise. But if it isn't Trump, it'll be someone else.

unlimited terms for presidents is the definition of fascism

russia has "elected" putin for decades and he is able to manipulate and make it seem like hes winning when its rigged

you seriously cannot be that gullible

I know this is kind of unrelated but I'm starting to believe he will get rid of term limits and run again in 2028.

I feel like we are living in very interesting times, which isn't really a good thing :huntyga:

Absutely he will. If he doesn't, it won't be because there's a rule saying you can only do two terms. It will be because he's dead or in poor health, or he just doesn't want it, or he has become so unpopular that he knows that rigging it wouldn't be credible.

This is a guy who refused to accept defeat in the 2020 election; and he didn't just 'not make the phone call', he actually tried to stop the other guy being inaugurated. There are no limits with Trump. None. There is no rule he won't break, no lie he won't tell, no depth to which he won't sink. Women ? Just grab them by rhe p---y because you're famous and you'll get away with it. Right and wrong, morality ? He would just call that weakness.

Unlimited terms aren't fascist - they feature in almost every democracy.

You're confusing unlimited terms in a democratic system with a dictatorship where the ruler isn't replaced.

It's not. If that's your definition of fascism then actual fascism will happen before you and you won't be able to notice it.

An artificial limit on what the people can choose won't prevent fascism. Actual limits will. Example: Trump. In the US there are term limits but there's no mechanism for the people to replace their leaders once they're elected, nor is there any mechanism to automatically replace them once a given limit is crossed (for example, anticonstitutional behavior).

Funnily enough, and most importantly, even though there are term limits in the US, the president can commit illegal acts and not be charged for them. Is that NOT FASCISM? Oh but my term limits! Not my precious term limits!

You're the gullible one if you believe forcibly replacing a leader every 4 to 8 years will keep them/a party from becoming fascist.

Former First Lady of the United States. Now card-carrying member of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
