If Gaga gets a #10 solo I will be very happy at this point. In the last 12 years since Applause shes only had 2 top 10 solo hits in the Hot 100 that werent even huge smashes. SL was top 10 only briefly and MR literally required a Super bowl performance and discounted itunes and still only went top 10 for 1 week.

I dont care what ppl say when they keep arguing her big smashes last few years (which were collabs) were not hits because they were collabs and that Gaga was the power behind it.

Her charting history in the last 10 to 12 years literally doesnt support the idea that shea a strong chart power on her own

Which is fine, quality over charts, its not shade necessairily. But just saying why I will be happy if she gets a brief top 10 that is a solo because where shes been in her career post 2013 that will be good by her standards and something that will be good enough for me to cheer!

just sucks because one can argue bloody mary, a top 46 hit, has more streams than a lot of #1 hits. Same with Judas, Always remmeberus this way, etc.

edit: That boy is the first on the 3rd page mamamaaaas

All this means is Gagas music is often timeless and can be appreciated years later (as bloody mary was, though there was viral luck there too)

But in terms of commercial power when she releases a new single, shes never been the same since 2013.

I think thats fine though. Shes not obsessed with doing whatever is trendier and she takes risks which means she wont be a TS making hits all the time this far into her career and if Disease is any indication the album is gonna be awesome!

But if were honest of where shes at in her career it does help manage expectations. I kept saying disease probably wouldnt be huge and everyone kept shutting it down. Well it turned out not to be.

Making something not mainstream catch on (like she did with Bad Romance) is a lot easier when theres hype around your name and people give it a chance. It wont work as well for Gaga now (commercially i mean)

I think Gaga still has a lot of sales power from her album sales and touring/residency numbers. She’s also becoming a bit of a streaming force having viral hits and social media presence. Bloody Mary’s performance is in line with Charli XCX’s Brat  songs that grew on social media and come small hits on BB. Beyonce had one solo top 10 hit in all of the 2010’s, she had an entire album which failed to have any top 10 hits, her only #1 song in the 2010’s was a duet with ed Sheeran in 2017. No one questions her status. Bruno hasn’t had a solo project since 2017 and no one has questioned his status either.

The Weeknd is coming next week so I think it'll be hard catching up soon... Unless she has a song on the album

They gave up because of Corona.

they gave up because she was about to film HoG, that's the real reason. Late 2020 the business was fully back to normal

Exactly why they didn't fiklmed a Bloody Mary or pushed the single while Gaga was preparing for Joker 2. A mess for this because I would have sacrified that mess of a thing for a BM video
