She has a whole song with Kanye though

that just makes it even worse for her... I'm not a huge twigs fan but i always assumed she was really political?

For years I thought so too. But after her recent support of Nicki Minaj and now working with the West family? Girl was just pretending to care about political issues to get people interested in her new project :air:

North West is literally just window dressing on the song. If it weren’t for the credit, you literally wouldn’t even know it was her. The entire part is in Japanese.

...so why include her? The arguments you're making are leaning that she intentionally wants to be associated with Kanye post-nazimeltdowns.

@bpmMonkey just... gross.

Yeah, all this has been really disheartening.

I refuse to separate the art from the artist when we're literally watching fascism blossom.

I was really looking forward to this album, too. The first three singles were AMAZING but now? I’ll probably give it a stream and then forget about it. Definitely not buying the physicals anymore tho lol

Unpopular opinion maybe nit I loved Childish Things, probably my favorite on the album, apart from Eusexua and Drums of Death.

Sticky, Eusexua, Drums of Death & Striptease are the standouts. I've been a fan of twigs since her EPs, and for me, she has yet to top Magdalene, which is still her best album to date. The album is solid though, I give it a 8/10.

Magdalene is still a 10/10 and LP1 is a 9/10.

why is north west on this album? why is twigs associating herself with Kanye and/or Kim during these times? I thought she was quite vocally left?

Well she’s worked with Kanye before, no? I assume they paid BIG to promote North

It's not really an argument. My point is that it's not really a surprising move for anyone who has been paying attention to her for any length of time. Any ideas people had about her being political or whatever are purely just projection from the listener just because she's an alternative artist. People did the same thing with Charli xcx when she worked with H&M thinking she was somehow against capitalism when that has... never been a thing.

So far I enjoyed them all very much. Sticky is really cute, like her voice and the production on it. Now getting ready for work so I’ll finish later :enigma:

The sooner we all accept that our favs are not some moral compasses, the better. Many of them have or will work with some problematic people or do questionable things, whether we like it or not. This isn’t to excuse anyone, but it’s just the reality.

Rina working with Paris. Even Gaga worked with R Kelly when we’ve all known about his allegations.

Celebs are just like any other person alive, full of contradictions. They could believe in one thing, but work with someone that goes against their entire belief system.

Yep, exactly! Took a while for me to get to this mindset myself, but it's a lot more freeing once you do. And it has nothing to do with separating art from artist, but more to do with regulating yourself, being less parasocial and not projecting your ideals onto people you don't even know to begin with just because of your perception of them. Because odds are they will let you down at some point. You can still feel disappointed and decide not to give them your money. It's just less of a mental toll when you're not that invested in the first place.

Anyway, this got a 9.1 and Best New Music from Pitchfork. Congrats to her. Amazing album.

Ugh such an amazing album, it's such a bizzare mix of FKA and early 2000s Madonna + Bjork! Liked it more than Caprisongs, but on the fence if she outdid herself from Magdalena.. either way, I can't wait to listen to it in a more chil way than on the ride to work.

Kinda funny y'all dragging her for working with North haha She is not her father/mother and Im pretty sure that with time she'll try to shake off that connection cause I seriously doubt she shares the views that Kanye has. Yea she's doing the nepo baby thing,  but lets be real, all of you would do it if y'all had the chance.

Either way, stop the drama, start the music cause its an INCREDIBLE ALBUM.
