How come Gaga hasn't been nominated for best supporting ? I haven't seen any of the performances that WERE nominated, but she was definitely better than all of them.

Nothing to really be surprised by though I'm surprised Wicked got acting nominations. Whether they win them is a big question mark as they seem to be losing when it comes to major awards and if the Golden Globes as a more commercial choice academy didn't make them win, I don't hold out for it happening. I know it sounds selfish but I really fear how Ariana winning could affect Gaga's future chances because a singer winning an acting Oscar is already rare enough as it is, to have another one be awarded a few years later would be highly unlikely and I want Gaga to be the only singer-turned-actress who's truly slaying it. Though it tells you that there's only so far the academy will push things as even though Emelia Perez was the most nominated of the night, that didn't involve Selena being nominated. Gaga may not have gone all the way yet, but she has more respect in the acting community than some singers do.

Don't know if this is definitely the truth but I don't think acting awards do "re-categorisation." I know the Grammys do it if they feel like an artist has submitted good work under the wrong category but it seems like acting academies don't do that. I've got the sneaking suspicion that the reason why Gaga's been "snubbed" across the board is because Warner Bros submitted her under lead actress. We can see from the trailer and the pre-promo that she was marketed as a co-lead but clearly, the final edit took out a lot of her scenes and had downgraded her to supporting. But it was already decided that she'd be looked at as the lead, so that's what she got submitted as. The acting academies, naturally, saw this consideration and thought "her acting in it was good but she wasn't in it for long enough to be considered a lead, so it's not fair to nominate her with actresses who were undeniable leads." The fear of her nomination being considered category fraud could well be validated by her complete snub. The Hawaii critics academy gave her a best actress nom, Razzies also gave her a worst actress nom. It was like it was just these 2 academies who shared the opinion that she was a lead actress. If that's the case, it's yet another f**k-up in this failed movie campaign.
