I’m only watching this year to see Demi take the Oscar but there’s no way I would sit through any of the performances from the horrific Emilia Perez numbers (I can’t buy that movie is nominated for so much) or Cynthia and Ariana performing.

Side note: IMO there will never be a performance that tops any of Gaga’s. No one is ever going to top Bradley & Gaga period. Their performance is close to having one billion views which is insane!

Maybe they still will. Wicked did not have any original song, so it’s not eligible for Best Original Song. They might skip the nominees performances but not musical numbers all together. I’d be a huge slay

Honestly this was such a weak year for Original Song. I can’t believe Folie a Deux didn’t even make the shortlists, it’s way better than most of those.

They better give it to Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.

The email does promise “powerful musical moments that connect film’s rich history to its bold and inspiring future.” It also says that this year’s show will be “a celebration of connection and collaboration – honoring the unifying spirit and creative synergy of moviemaking.”

Sounds like they booked the Rah Rah Bitch for another feel good tribute type gig to me!

To be fair, there wasn't a big frontrunner original song this year, they were all little-known, niche songs, not even Disney songs got big, so it was the best year for them to give it a miss. But I still feel sorry for the performers who could have done this for exposure. But there doesn't seem to be a really good reason to omit them this year. I could understand wanting to reduce the length of the ceremony as it's frequently criticised for being overly long but they don't cite that as the reason. Performing the songs is relevant and act as entertainment between awards and hosting so it'll be sorely missed. Was the agents of actors from Emelia Perez responsible for pressurising the academy producers as they were nervous about singing live? Maybe they feared another Ariana DeBose situation? Just think it's weird that the one year no one's going to sing is the year that there's concern from the cast of one movie that they won't be able to perform well. Could you imagine if this was Shallow's year? We'd be baying for blood. Especially as she didn't do any official live performances until then.

No, they have been trying to do this FOR YEARS now. Even they year Shallow was nominated they didn’t want performances, then they just wanted Gaga, then she “fought” for everyone to have their moment. They have been trying to get rid of the original song performances so they just focus on the acting and other aspects of the movie industry I believe, not giving the spotlight to “singers” when they already have the Grammys.

Kindness rules all.
