Donald Trump has revoked the Equal Employment Opportunity Act of 1965.

The order prohibited discrimination in hiring and employment based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin.

So now if the manager of somewhere has a certain viewpoint you can be denied employment based on your skin colour/gender/sexuality. America really is the pits right now.

Of course I dont support this but discrimatory hiring decisions are extremely hard to prove and even easier to get away with than descriminatory firing

 

I suspect for the most part most bigoted ppl made biased decisions regardless of this act and in reality it protects very few people

 

Its like how Id love to start a union at my job and I know legally they cant fire me for that yet I have 0 confidence that law would make any difference whats so ever. Theyd just find another reason further down the line to make the firing look legitimate and claim plausible denial

 

But on a more serious note, regardless of how much impact this law has or not, im quite terrified for American ppl (and my Country as well tbh) of what stuff he'll do

This act was passed in 1965 and has guaranteed protections for decades. Not sure how that is BS unless you are on the side of segregationists.

I mean i think it is and that in reality it wont change much if anything, but I did not want to give the impression like I was somehow sympathizing with Trump cuz I know thats how some would take it or accuse me of it cuz some ppl here are agressive

How does it this law work exactly?

 

Im pretty sure we got simmilar laws here in Canada but in reality its like impossible to enforce. You can have all kinds of reasons for hiring person A instead of person B and its virtually impossible to know or prove whether the decision was influenced for discriminatory reasons

 

If I hate gay or black people. I can just say I hired the other person due to more experience, or I liked their attitude better etc and its essentially impossible to prove otherwise

There are agencies that respond to complaints based on this law.

The context for Trump revoking this is he's saying this law is being used to discriminate against white people. And he is currently reversing all types of DEI initiatives across government.
