Trump allows ICE to make arrests near churches and schools

CNN — Federal immigration authorities will be permitted to arrest people and carry out enforcement actions in and near places such as churches and schools, marking a departure from long-standing policy to avoid so-called sensitive areas.

Acting Homeland Security Secretary Benjamin Huffman announced the end of two directives in a statement, giving agents more authority over whether they carry out enforcement and eliminating a legal pathway for migrants seeking to come to the United States.

“Criminals will no longer be able to hide in America’s schools and churches to avoid arrest. The Trump Administration will not tie the hands of our brave law enforcement, and instead trusts them to use common sense,” the statement reads.

It’s a key example of how enforcement is going to be different under the new Trump administration from the Biden administration.

If you use GGD without being logged into your account, you don't see the politic threads and that's why I only very rarely log in anymore. However using the site without your account means also not being able to comment and react

You could start by not commenting the same post in every thread (which is spam) and bumping topics onto the main page. 

Advice: Don’t open or comment in topics that don’t interest you. Easy, we all do it. 

You could also use the “Forums” tab and open the sections you are interested in.

it's not like there are much entertainment news anyway, everything has been postponed because of the fire and in general january is a slow news month.

@Morphine Prince you are the one making 95% of these threads. Can’t you just keep it to a single thread called “Trump Updates” that you post in when there’s a new story you want to share? Or if you really have a need to commiserate over politics, go over to Reddit and do it there. The GGD homepage is literally flooded with political headlines mainly because of you specifically.

I don’t want to follow the daily minutiae of his whack administration but I am forced to because of you.

No. This is the World News section so we discuss these topics. “Trump Updates” is not a thing. This is stuff happening in the USA and if you look through this section you’ll see a variety of stuff is posted. 

Not sure why simply ignoring things you aren’t interested in is difficult. I do it all the time on this forum

This is why we decided against making a consolidated "Trump Thread". Imagine one thread to discuss all the messed up sh*t happening in America right now  

@Morphine Prince has already made an effort to consolidate some things anyway, like Trump's day one executive orders, and he's good at deciding what does and doesn't need it's own thread.
