So... according to those legal documents that leaked back in 2020 when her legal firm was hacked, after her original deal of 5 albums (signed in May 2007), she extended it to the point of 8 albums.

Thanks to those documents, we also know soundtracks and the Tony albums don't participate on the count, and TFM does even tho it's an EP/deluxe rerelease.

Since (again, thanks to leaks) we know Harlequin will be part of her website countdown, do you think it's part of the 8 albums count despite being mostly cover songs (being album #7)? If so, and LG7 is her 8th album as per contract, do you think she'll extended her deal with Interscope again?

Daenerys

I think she’s on track to go independent. If Harlequin is an indicator she set up her own side label “LilMonsters LLC” which could indicate her intent to establish her independence from record companies.

Harlequin was released under her own personal record label because it had a Chroma reject on it (Happy Mistakes)

According to her contract, she's not permitted to reuse songs from previous album sessions for new albums...

So no, this is not her last album under her current contract

A great personal decision would be to use that label as her own and also sign other up and coming artists, like Kesha is doing. However, this would lower the amount of albums she puts out methinks. But if it was me, I'd do it in a heart beat, because it'd allow me to concentrate on more creative endeavors and maybe release more non-commercial music Harlequin style. A music label and a makeup company, with those two things you're set.

Madonna did this and signed artists like Alanis Morisette, Erasure, Muse, and The Prodigy. Its a fantastic idea

I feel like having her own record label with full creative control would suit her perfectly.

A Very Gaga Holida

I’m sure most of the problems regarding Gaga’s strategies etc. come from Gaga herself and her close team. Interscope is doing its work, I believe. I don’t mind her changing record labels but I don’t WANT to see it happen.

I also think Gaga being independent would be a disaster. :brat:

She literally labeled Harlequin as LG 6.5 and that album is under own label, so it is not part of her extended contract. LG8 is coming (once) under Interscope.

Well yes and no.

Yes because I want her to push numbers. Her charts peaks are terribly low considering how big she is. A lot of potential underused.

No because they give her a lot of liberty in her creative decisions.

And tbh I feel like we put a lot of messy promo decisions on Interscope when it's probably Gaga's own takes :huntyga:
