It’s more than what a lot of people are doing. Why are we bashing her for this?

I dunno, theres something about announcing that you donated that makes the motives feel ungenuine to me

U could bring awareness to the issue and some organizations without needing to specify you donated to every single one on that list :air:

She donated this days ago tbh. Fans stalked and found she'd dropped around 10mil quietly.

Probably put this post up just to avoid major criticism for dropping the digital albums.

Considering her carbon footprint I have very little interest in celebrating this particular activism from Ms. Swift.

This is the absolute bare minimum she of all people should be doing.

I have a different perspective for these reasons:

1.  She amounts to an INDUSTRY that generates literally billions of dollars for the economy.  Industries are bad for the planet's carbon footprint.

I agree some of it is not really "for work" and so she's definitely not innocent, but it terms of jobs and economic good and what it fascilitates her to do, I can live with it.

2.  She pays for the carbon she uses, she buys carbon credits in an amount greater than the amount she adds.

Still not perfect but she's doing it and she doesn't have to.

I don't like billionaires, but in terms of these people, she's giving away a higher percentage of her wage than others.  And she does it in thoughtful ways, though charity and bonuses and all sorts of things.

OTHER artists don't have the same track record.

And you don't  hear stories from her past where she was mooching drinks from other people who couldn't afford it either, or being that friend who never brings things or contributes.

I could really go into some detail in comparing her, but I'll spare it.

I'll summarize to say that this fan base isn't one who should criticize Taylor for how she spends her money because, well,...  :huntyga:

When she promoting voting, it broke records for voter registration.

Likewise, when she puts her money where her mouth is, it has an exponential effect.  If she just asked her FANS to donate, then it would come across like, "I don't want to spend my hundreds of millions, I'm doing my part by telling YOU to pay for it".

I think of that time around Covid where Gaga was criticized for being CHEAP with donations around the same time the Joanne Restaurant GoFundMe her dad started became news.

Gaga's response was to raise 128 million through that online concert, but again, she raised her FAN's money.  I still give her credit because that is a lot of money and it made a big difference to many people.

Taylor is not giving money away for "promo".  She announces it because a) donations of a certain are public in the united states and b) it has an exponential effect.

This fan base really ought not to criticize Taylor Swift's charitable efforts.  :huntyga:

Ronnie

To help, I’m releasing a very limited set of vinyls. Each of the 30 variants will have a unique set of random very intimate recordings made while I was taking a **** on one of many flights in my private jet during the Eras Tour. 89¢ from each vinyl sold will go towards relief efforts. 🫶🏼
