One of my favorite directors ever. He truly changed what was possible to do in cinema and TV. He'll be sorely missed :(

This was an official message from the Office of the First Lady.

Mulholland Drive was the first movie I watched that completely blew my mind and made me question myself about it so hard I spent days thinking abou what it all meant, cause we're all conditioned to consume media that gives us a full plot with no holes and all things being answered. David Lynch, on the other hand, made me question, and understand that the beauty of art is in its subjectivity. He enhanced the experience of the viewers by making each one explore and externalize their own perspectives on the meaning of his work. And that is what exquisite art is about.

Personally Blue Velvet is one of my favourites. Such a huge loss to cinema and visual art in general.

2025 is off to a very bad start.

Incredibly sad, an immense talent and creative spirit.

Would have been amazing to know him and work with him.

Rest in peace, icon.

Greatest director of all time (only behind kubrick, perhaps)

Nothing like paying respects to the deceased by calling them a runner up or 2nd best :toofunny:

But on a serious note, I know very little of him but looks like he was a very well respected director. Always sad to see someone like that die :(

78 is not that rare for males to die especially in USA thats below developed world average

Tho i suppose if u factor in he was probably kinda wealthy i guess that is a bit on the young side.

This is heartbreaking. My all time favorite director. Will forever be thankful for everything he did.
