The world does not revolve around Hollywood. Earthquakes, fires, floods, genocides, wars have been happening all around the world, and I haven't seen Hollywood put everything on hold for any of those catastrophes. Covid was an exception, as it happened for the whole world.

I understand a pause on events/announcements and focusing on getting these fires under control for a couple of weeks. For morale and logistics, it's important. It's a devastating disaster, but people go to work and continue living their lives despite the conditions. It would look extremely tone-deaf, imo, if Hollywood went on a months long pause because of this. Nothing will be gained, and it would just make Hollywood look even more out of touch if things go to a halt, especially if the fires don't get worse.

My comment has less to do with Gaga and LG7, but more with how an extended pause would benefit no one. Actors need to work, the music and movie industries feed enough working class people that any extended delay or pause in the industry would make absolutely no sense.

No I think your right, I’m sure it could be done, but so many contributions from people who did the work are probably affected.

The release of an album is a celebratory event, and the people making those contributions are affected by a disaster. As an artist, I’m sure it would feel terrible to leave those people behind.

The Weeknd, Lady Gaga and other big artists can afford to wait until the people who packaged and delivered their albums get a semblance of life back before they release.

Fair points

There's always something new going on. It seems a bit egotistical to think putting an album off for a few weeks does anything to benefit or harm people who are the victims of a wildfire.

The reality is that there will be  extended delays and various other complications in the entertainment industry because of the fires.

Its nothing to do with naval gazing Hollywood making everything about them and entirely to do with location.

People will prioritise rehoming themselves naturally.

But beyond that, there's at least 2 weeks of filming & other production work in LA lost to the fires and there's still the potential for more time lost. Because of how packed schedules are combined with paper work for filming permits etc its not like this can all just be slotted in next week. Other things are already planned, the calendars are full.

That means that tv shows will likely have delayed seasons, larger season breaks or simply will have the number of planned episodes cut.

Films under production in the area will be delayed, some in infancy and with smaller budgets could be scrapped.

It will have less of an effect on the music industry as a whole - although there will be an impact to any performance rehearsals going for any artist that has been doing so in LA studios using LA dancers. And hotels are going to be hard to get space in due to the amount of people now homeless having to use them (if they have funds).

The main problem for the music industry is the delays of major acts like Beyonce & the Weeknd will inevitably mean labels move around release schedules for other acts to avoid clashes.

None of it is because the industry is out of touch. Its just operational & logistics issues.

Awakened M

I'd understand if a delay happened, but there's not a reason to do so as far as I know.

I'm not getting any sleep tonight because I woke up to a beautiful life. I'm awake.
