Honestly if radio would get it’s sh*t together DWAS could be number one for 10+ weeks. If this was any other artist it would be getting well over 100M audience impressions at this point. But of course it’s struggling to hit 70M right now.

We all want Gaga to succeed but this is the least satisfying "victory" for a lot of us 'cause it comes at the cost of things we value (or used to value) in her as an artist.

Y'all can't expect those of us who never cared about charts in the first place to suddenly celebrate a #1 when it was paid for by having one of her best songs in years see its lead single status revoked and promo chances dashed due to the chart performance of a standalone collab single and when the album itself is changed just so it can drop with 1.5 billion streams (or however many it has now) and a #1 song already in its pocket

they would have complain the same way if Disease was #1 instead, it's not about the DWAS itself, it's just about anything that she does, we both know the people we are dealing here and like every single era, album and single, they will complain just for the sake of it, if it #1 for 2 weeks or if it's #10 for 20 weeks

 

I'm totally fine with criticism, I'm not a fan Joanne and I say it out loud, I even somewhat agree with yours or certain things about DWAS, but here it's not criticism, it's just 17 years of the same annoyance, nothing can make them happy and this negativity is draining.

this song showcases shes a serious vocalist and shows off her pipes in the way shallow did. 

if anything you can argue shes being praised for her talent instead of the gimmick and shock value
