Celebs that have lost their homes: Jeff Bridges, Milo Ventimiglia, Jhene Aiko, Diane Warren, Paris Hilton, Jamie Lee Curtis, Mel Gibson, John Goodman, Bryan Greenberg and Jamie Chung, Jennifer Grey, Anthony Hopkins, Bozoma Saint John, Taran Killam and Cobie Smulders, Tina Knowles, Ricki Lake, Sandra Lee, Eugene Levy, Cameron Mathison, Rosie O’Donnell, Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag, Melissa Rivers, Candy Spelling, Miles Teller, James Woods

And while I think it is horribly sad for anyone to lose their home, most of these people can just buy a new one. They aren't having to wait on insurance, etc. I feel bad for these people that will take years to rebuild.

Diane Warren and her years of music history, demos, tapes, and instruments kinda hits hard from a historical perspective. 

 

Also the loss of the Will Rodgers museum with its library of 2,000 rare books hurts.

 

10 of them were written by my great grandfather. Rodgers wrote to him asking for them I think and ERB sent back 10 volumes signed. 

I know it's just stuff. But as your resident archivist,  part of me mourns.

As a lover of books, this hits hard for me.  All that knowledge, perspective, insight, art, literature... gone...

it's like the loss of the Library of Alexandria or when Notre Dame burned...  at least an amazing building like Notre Dame can be restored... who can recover words from rare books unless they were copied or recorded?
