Trying to insist on a full national leadership contest within the party with months until the election is forced on the party presuming the parliament doesn't force a snap one seems petty af.

In short:

 

- Mishandling of immigration and whether your left wing, right or centre most unanamously agree the Liberals did not take a conpetent balanced approach towards who and how many they let in especially with temporary foreign labor and the extremely high number of students

- Failure to improve Canadas ongoing sluggish economy and productivity problem and weak business investment. This may tie in part to temporary workers too as a 97% approval rate meant it was cheaper to pay a foreigner minimum wage than to actually invest in modernization and try to compete!

- Failure to get serious about housing crisis until it reached absolutely awful levels. Canada has had higher average housing prices in the US for many years despite slightly lower wages. So if you think housing is bad down there you should see Canada

 

And lastly just too long in office. Few Governments have historically lasted longer than 9 or 10 years and Trudeau and Liberals have been in for over 9 years now. Ppl tire of current government and blame them even for things that werent their fault (ex: post pandemic inflation)

 

Even if he did a better job hed probably be doomed as hes just reaching a typical expiry timeline. Only a handful of Prime Ministers in Canadas history lasted longer than a decade (one ironically being Trudeaus father)

The problem is none of the alternatives are any better but oh well

 

But regardless yeah, in addition to other things they REALLY botched housing and immigration and people are suffering for it.

It's scary how the world is shifting to extreme right positions at a huge speed. He is gonna be replaced by someone who won't solve any problem he was forced to resign for... It seems nowadays people need to hate someone. And once a target disappear, another one will show up for an endless loop

Actually I can totally see some problems improving with Poilievre and the Conservatives winning. But other issues will in turn get worse

 

I can see Poilievre improving extreme beaureocracy and red tape regulation to at least some extent. I can also see him taking a more balanced approach to immigration.

 

But on the flip side regressive tax cuts and more lax environmental standards are guaranteed

 

In terms of housing crises i can largely see it staying the same one way or the other. Id also expect healthcare to be neutral with slightly less strain from population growth but on the flip side probably slightly less funding under Conservatives
