Why didn’t ‘Disease’ click with the GP?

we all know disease is loved by fans and critics alike, however the song is severely getting overlooked by the GP, why do you guys think is the reason? Is it promo issue since gaga is an artist who’s very ‘promo sensitive’ as some might say, or is the song just not catchy and memorable enough for the GP? The radio callout aren’t bad either, it was doing decent I think, What are your thoughts on this? really hope disease gets her deserved flowers soon. I’m not expecting a huge hit like DWAS, just a moderate hit like Alejandro, paparazzi for disease is MORE than enough for me. would love to know y’alls thoughts on this!

It probably was a bit overshadowed by both DWAS and Joker reception, unfortunately.

Plus these days many people are drawn to a more, umm, minimalist type of sound compared to the maximalist sonic that Gaga is known for.

I still think it'll end up having solid longevity. Peaks aren't everything, just saiyan.

A Very Gaga Holida

Girl, Alejandro and Paparazzi are NOT moderate hits :deadbanana:

On topic, the GP voted for Trump, so… :messga:

Also, let’s not pretend Gaga pushed it. It feels like a posthumous single.

King of the Fall

Combination of not being the right sound for a mainstream hit and overshadowed by DWAS. Some people say she should have promoted it better but I doubt it would have made much of a difference.

Hey, I'm king of the world, you ought to hear my song, you come on measure me, I'm twenty inches long

It had a mv, huge playlisting, radio deals, tiktok, a carpool segment and more guys.

We need to stop with the "It wasn't promoted or pushed" narrative.

Magic Mike

it's a different sound to the one we hear on the radio and it also has a heavy, visceral vibe to it. people want something easy and not rebellious

You just described what being a single means. Not what a PUSHED single is.

Please this came a week ago after 1 month of silence on the song, we haven't gotten any physicals release or any live performance other than those in her channel (that people that aren't looking for the song wont know about) :brat:

I mean have you actually heard and watched the video sis

It's a combination of too many difficult factors to help.

- The title isn't very friendly, hey mate check out this new tune... disease

- ew

- yeah but its cool

- no, thanks

Then you really don't get whats she talking about and it'll even take a few listens, cause so much is going on like classic gaga.

Youll just concentrate on  the eerie freaky vibe and loud vocals and weird noises.

It's just very different specific. You need to be exposed to it to appreciate it

I still think it could reach much better positions. But at the end of the day it's not a party anthem nor really a club read track, it's not completely pop friendly nor rock friendly. Yeah there's a reason when britney had some influences and others it's still pretty much pop. Here it's a bit genre bending. It sounds poppy and has the structure of a pop song but it's not just spooky, there's actual some hardcore elements to it.

One needs to remember that Charli XCX, who unquestionably had the biggest album of 2024, didn’t have a single song even come close to what would be called chart success before the release of brat. Yet still, the album as a whole was a massive success.

I think in the days of streaming, having a single hit the big leagues chart-wise isn’t as important, and feels at least, far more random than before. Yes, it worked for Sabrina, yes it can make a huge difference to the momentum of an album release. But it’s very different these days, and it often relies on either being super viral on Tik Tok, or, just random organic success (DWAS) - which, if you look at the charts these days, feels impossible to predict. I love DWAS but I NEVER saw it doing that well, and honestly I don’t think anyone did.

Disease ticks every box for what most of us wanted from a Gaga track these days. I think the album is going to do the same. As for its chart success? Who knows - it could’ve gone either way, but it just never found the right trend / influencer to kick it off, and may be too abrasive for the GP.

That's like saying showing up to work, then drinking coffe and chatting with colleagues is enough to keep a job :p  there's almost no public awareness of the song even being out, since what you mentioned are things stans look for. A push would be getting on a radio and talking about it, or doing a random show or a new years thing where non fans also tune in and watch/listen to the music. As for charting no physicals absolutely killed it, since lets be real, best positions are garnered when uou have any form of physicals. Her team however put all their focus on everything DWAS, from pop up shops, one off preformances, physicals etc

That type of promotion doesn't have the same effect like it used to.

Streaming and tiktok are the bug platforms tbh.
