Was surprised to come here to find so many in support of this. It is just a rumour but if it is true, wouldn't this not be an abuse of influence and power? Not to mention, petty as hell? Since when did not allowing certain people to be invited to a public event just because you personally don't like them be considered commendable behaviour? And why is it only considered acceptable when it's the Kardashians? If this happens, it opens up the door to a lot of other people being denied entry for petty reasons. I'm sure you lot would have something to say if Gaga got barred because she was seen as too much competition for someone on the committee. If Katy Perry had the power to bar Gaga entry to the MET, this thread would look VERY different. Just saying, be consistent.

You do realise just how petty, shallow and entitled celebrity culture is as a whole right? These people do not live in the real world.

Because Katy Perry trying to Bar Gaga from the MET would have a completely different dynamic to it.

the Kardashians are truly the epitome of rich entitlement

It doesn't matter what the reason is (except for criminality perhaps), you can't just bar someone from an event because you don't like them. It's not like it's your birthday or some personal event where it's understandable that you only want people you like there, it's a charity function. The way people are applauding this rumour just because it's the Kardashians leaves a really sour taste in my mouth. That family are no angels but they don't deserve this level of hate and to be treated like they're sub-human. I think they've moved way past the "just famous for being famous" label what with all their businesses and their financial and celebrity pull, so for anyone to say they don't belong at a prestigious celebrity event is just being classist at this point.

Sure, but that doesn't mean it should be encouraged. Rihanna's behaviour has been awful for years yet her fans defend it, think it's funny and think it makes her a badass bitch. I just call it for what it is. No one would put up with it if she weren't famous. But for all that, I wouldn't bar her from an event because I didn't like her. Celebrities shouldn't be exempt from manners.

I don’t know what’s worse: Calling a black woman a “bully” while referring to her partner as her “baby daddy” she should keep out of prison.

OR

Defending the most entitled white women in Hollywood who have shamelessly shown what they stand for and have bullied other women in the industry due to the sensitivity and wrongdoings of their baby daddies and sisters.

I would adjust the guest list too if my abuser was associated with the Kardashian Klan, mind you. :triggered:

Now lets not pretend like Rihanna didn't have her mean girl streak. I understand her not wanting to associate with the kardashians but doing this is extremely petty and unnecessary. Like gurl focus on yourself and your man with his legal troubles.

I'm sorry but the Kardashians always bring up the looks to the MET, as usual the unnecessary hate

Well. Kim does.

I feel like talking about "abuse of power" when discussing the MET gala is a thoroughly unserious approach lol

Like its an elitist party event where a lot of celebrities turn up for free because a designer has bought a ticket and wants someone popular to walk the carpet in their work.

And the event is organised by the most successful mean girl of the 20th and 21st centuries. Of course its fueled by celebrity cliques. And I'm sure Anna Wintour will side with Rihanna because its been rumoured for years that she hates the Kardashians 😂

Yes it is a charity event. But ultimately its a celebrity party where the focus is the celebrities and the charity just gets lucky. And what is the point of celebrity culture at this point if we can't pit the millionaires against eachother for our own entertainment

I totally get you and I agree, but this is how it's always been. Big celebrities and Hollywood in general. They live in their own world totally outside of ours. Their values are different. Not all of them mind you, but most of the entertainment industry at least (Pop stars, Actors, Reality stars etc.)

Will Smith assaulted Chris Rock on live TV at the Academy Awards, yet was still allowed to stay at the event and was even given an award later where he sobbed about kindness and everyone applauded lol. If that were a normal person he would've been instantly escorted from the building or even arrested. Absolute joke. It's a totally different world and all that money and status completely warps these people.

What they don't often realise is that, to us normal people, they are little more than entertainment, hence why we just laugh at their petty antics.

I can’t wait to see Kanye’s reaction when Rihanna literally kicked the Kardashians out of the Gala and Anna Wintour didn’t do anything about it.
