Bronco 6,380
Genuinely feel like LG7 is Gaga's last chance to have a career defining magnum opus like the Dangerous album or Ray of Light. For various reasons she's been too distracted/disjointed since Born This Way. Atm her creativity and passion seems to be back at levels i havent seen in a decade so it feels like the perfect moment for that career & identity defining album. Given her increasing focus on film these days I feel like she needs to bottle the lightning now before she moves on to raising a family etc 7

Her discography is now messy and not having a linear evolution like other pop girls like madonna, kylie, etc. Judas is coming. Idk if I'd say her passion died but she certainly plays it PR friendly these days. Every decision down to what political statements to make and what songs to promote is based on what would benefit her most on the market. That's Bobby's job, and he's damn good at it, but idk. I'd rather see her flop by genuinely doing whatever she wanted and expressing whatever she wanted to express* than succeed with a carefully curated public image so distant from who she used to be. *This is why I wouldn't care if she quit music to focus on acting 'cause that's where her passion lies, I think. And I want the projects she puts her whole self into 1

It was really a shame show different artistically her career turned out to be. Her discography is now messy and not having a linear evolution like other pop girls like madonna, kylie, etc. I mean we look back on Madonna & Kylie's career with rose tinted specs. Madonna & Kylie both had up and down periods in the 90s not entirely unlike the ARTPOP through to Chromatica period for Gaga. Erotica's adoration & fanbase has grown over years and was more divisive on launch. And Madonna then had her fair share of rough films alongside a standout in Evita. Bedtime Stories did alright but wasn't a classic era for her. Hence why Ray of Light's success became so instrumental in the "reinvention narrative". Same thing for Kylie. Her indie eras and adult pop shift in the 90s weren't big successes and the Impossible Princess tour originally wasn't even planned for Australia. But then Light Years, Spinning Around & the gold hotpants literally rebirthed her career as a major pop girl. Gaga's definitely due her Ray of Light/Light Years return to form. 1

Given her increasing focus on film these days I feel like she needs to bottle the lightning now before she moves on to raising a family etc I've come to doubt that she will deliver that album. I fell asleep half wasted to a documentary/review of Janet's The Velvet Rope album and...I don't know that Gaga has it in her to write an album like that these days especially now that she's willing to put standalone singles on the album and change its body just to boost its sales. Hope she proves me wrong of course, but yeah. I fully expect LG7 to come, do pretty well on streaming, sell about as much as Chromatica or Joanne, get similar critic scores, maybe she has another hit collab hidden ala DWAS or ROM (maybe The Weeknd collab), and then she moves on next year after a short tour to focus on another role and starting a family.

I’m sorry it’s still one of my favorite albums of hers It's my favorite album of Gaga's by a wide margin I had this whole theory about stages of grief/pain being expressed throughout the tracklist. The traumatizing event (Diamond Heart), denial (A-Yo), sadness (Joanne), anger, self medication (John Wayne, Dancin' in Circles, Perfect Illusion), sadness...again lmao (Million Reasons), stoicism (Sinner's Prayer), altruism and support (Come to Mama, Hey Girl), a second traumatizing event (Angel Down, Grigio Girls), but she's better at coping with pain as she's healed (Just Another Day). That's the kind of album I love. Joanne could absolutely be turned into a full length visual album/film And the production is gorgeously done, her voice sits best over an analog track. AND the inspiration of "pain changes who you are as a person and you have to both heal and discover your new self and make peace as you mourn who you once were" just I could gush over Joanne for hours
