yeah but all james bond songs contains the theme regardless of this chord, for example Skyfall from minute 1:50, a part of theme is in the instrumental

One Blood Under W by Wu Tang Clan starts with the theme too.

Almost every bond song, maybe except The World Is Not Enough, this one has a part from Come in 007, Your Time Is Up

Well chatgpt answered the question for me

The song Skyfall by Adele, which won the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 2013, does not violate Oscar rules despite containing elements reminiscent of the James Bond theme. Here's why:

Academy Rules for Best Original Song

The rules state that a song must be original and specifically written for the film it accompanies. However, they do not prohibit the use of motifs or stylistic elements tied to the film’s legacy, as long as the song as a whole is a new and original composition.

The James Bond Theme

The iconic James Bond theme, composed by Monty Norman and arranged by John Barry, is deeply associated with the franchise. Skyfall integrates some stylistic elements—like orchestration and mood—that evoke the theme, but it does not directly sample or reproduce the original score. Instead, it pays homage while standing as a distinct, original song with its own melody and lyrics.

Precedents and Allowances

Other James Bond songs have used similar motifs and been eligible for awards. For example:

Shirley Bassey's Goldfinger (1964) heavily referenced Bond's musical style but was an original composition.

Skyfall follows in this tradition, using thematic echoes rather than direct sampling.

In conclusion, Skyfall adheres to the rules because it is an original composition that complements the film’s legacy without directly copying or sampling prior material.

so you were not helpful at all :franminervini:

2025 is already shaping up to be something else!

We wish because those candidates are not it... I can't believe this year's shortlist, even worse than 2021's

FAD on JFAD shouldn't have existed. FAD on Harlequin should have been on both albums (Soundtrack and LG6.5).

I think FAD isn't nominated/shortlisted because

(1) It is too short

(2) We all heard the full version on LG6.5

they mess that up big time

keep on looking for Psyduck

The James Bond theme just uses a minor major chord which isn’t trademarked or anything. It’s just associated with the franchise, but doesn’t count towards plagiarism or interpolation. Kind of like how you could say Jaws owns the minor 2nd interval which would disqualify any song using a repeated minor 2nd interval lol

i'm sorry but Folie à Deux shits all over those songs on that shortlist lol

not even being biased....what a weak year for original songs

Truth and such a shame people bashed the movie so much they didn't even bother with the rest of the good parts of it like the Song, Score, Cinematography, etc.

Folie A Deux is a beautiful song that at least deserved to be on that shortlist but at the same time I guess it's ok if Gaga isn't there, don't want the Actress nom chances to be overshadowed in the future.

Hold My Hand would've easily won among those songs too. :madge:
