Olly's just released another new track from his upcoming album Polari (out 7th Feb 2025). 

I don't know how others feel, but I'm finding the new album to be more interesting than his first solo album Night Call. I am a sucker for the 90s dance vibe he's gone for this era

They are 2 very sonically different albums tbf

For now Night Call remains vastly superior, but we'll see how the rest of the album is. Archangel is already a step up from Cupid's Bow and definitely from Polari.

Am I the only one who thought Night Call was trash and a sell out from Years & Years?

I always wonder if something will give the authenticity vibes Communion had, that album is just so hard to top!
I still prefer Communion and Palo Santo over all of this but I think I'm liking the last 2 new songs better than all of nightcall!

I despised Nightcall lol this is much better in my opinion.

I am liking these singles, but I LOVED night call. Tracks like Sooner Later and Night Call are so underrated in the pop world. This new album is not quite the same (yet). We’ll see what the album brings.

Atm Polari is sounding the closest sonically to Communion & Palo Santo. And the vibe feels more comparable. At least for me it is anyway.

I find it really interesting seeing the difference in reaction between older Y&Y fans and Nightcall lovers to this new material.

lol don’t get me wrong, I’ve been a fan of Y&Y from the start, but this isn’t a Y&Y project, this is Olly.

I mean I count them as one thing. Olly kept the branding for Nightcall and he's still using it for Polari to keep the 2 albums combined with the 2 Y&Y albums on streaming. He still promoted Y&Y stuff during this era to gain traction for this era (like when Eyes Shut & Breathe had small moments on TikTok). And he was the main writer for all Y&Y stuff, so its not like he was in a metal band and his solo stuff is pop. He's just not performing with the other 2 anymore
