Ontario Premier Doug Ford is threatning to shut off electrical power supply to the US which would cripple US grids on States like Michigan, New York and Wisconsin

Ontario would be one of the hardest hit Provinces by a trade war as it exports a lot of manufactured goods to the US, and it imports a lot of industrial supplies and Machinery from the US as well

Trade with the US from Ontario alone is over $500B annually if both imports and exports are counted

Michigan and Wisconsin are going to get exactly what they voted for.

Rob Ford is a less extreme Trump. In other words hes kinda crazy too. He will be far more agressive than Trudeau

He will legit follow thru with doing this and the US Naturally will retaliate and cripple us back

I hope they resolve this. Ughhhhh can we not create another 1930s Economic Depression? :saladga:

It's too bad they don't only have to suffer from this.

Doug Ford is crazy enough to do this :rip:

Honestly, This is a lesson for the Trump Admin that they can't throw away threats against their closest allies to solve issues domestically.

He is :air:

Say what u will about Trudeaus mismanagement of economy, immigration targets and failure to get economy out of a chronic productivity rut but at least hes level headed and will weigh pros and cons of retalatory actions and how they will respond...

Deputy Prime Minister Crystia Freeland is also of a simmilar approach

Doug Ford on the otherhand is a lot more abrassive, impulsive and does things on an emotional whim without thinking it thru, traits he shares with Trump :air:. I wouldnt totally put it past him to do something this tho I hope he doesnt follow thru cuz Americans would hit us back HARD

Tit for tat never ends well for anyone :fail:

I sold off a lot of my investments today cuz i literally worry its all about to turn to sh*t

I REALLY hope the worst case scenario doesnt play out. Trump has so much ego he thinks he can take on the entire world at once... Canada, Mexico, China and Brics and he is gonna burn America hard and unfortunately those same Nations down with him

Trade isnt a black and white 0 sum game with 1 winner and 1 looser. Its a lot more nuanced than that. But he doesnt get it.

Oh Trump is such a genius isn’t he. :interestinga: I don’t think he even understands tariffs.

Almost every time theyve been attempted on a mass scale (including in the US) the results were not positive and after a time they ended up being reversed.

Ud think Trump is almost old enough to remember those events but...
