Opioids in pregnancy should be given only in extreme cases of pain and even then a weak opioid such as Tramadol can be used

Some of the medications mentioned aren't even opioids though. Depending on the situation, they can be used safely, but usually not iin the third trimester. I was offered them for my migraines but I hate the way they make me feel. Fentanyl isn't an opioid and one of the main medications used in epidurals.

Fentanyl IS an opioid and one the strongest. I know this because my fiance died from taking 2 tablets on top of oxycontin and his cause of death was opioid overdose from mixing two drugs from the same family (opioids)

It's a synthetic opioid like most. As far as I'm aware, Codeine and Morphine are the only natural opioids (opiates)

I was given fentsnyl for my surgery, it's the first one they gave me then whatever drug (I'm assuming propofol) they gave me next knocked me out within seconds.
