saw Wicked for a third time last night, she and Cynthia are truly so fantastic and deserve all the praise!

I already found it pretty wild that she and Cynthia got GG nominations as from what I've seen, it's just campy musical acting they're doing, nothing that's award grade. If they get Oscar nominations...and Ariana wins an acting Oscar before Gaga... I'm telling you, if Ariana gets major awards for this role, it'll be harder for Gaga to win with future roles as giving popstars the ultimate acting praises is something that only happens extremely occasionally, once for a generation thing. Not even Gaga a nomination at the GG's, which are more about commercial value, especially when they gave her an award for her tv acting long ago seems like a major snub. Actors get nominated for meh/bad movies all the time, even for ones that aren't well known.

girl saying ari doesnt deserve a nom for her incredible performance in wicked is like saying gaga didnt deserve to be nominated for a star is born since she was basically playing herself....... pls stop

how is ariana getting nominated for wicked different from gaga getting nominated for ASIB?

Joker 2 sealed Gaga’s fate for Oscar wins even without Ariana’s potential success 

I’m not sure Gaga’s acting career would recover anytime soon after that flop. Maybe she’ll win an Oscar already in her older age…

But a musical like Wicked requires a kind of acting that just isn't credible. It's too put-on, too camp, too deliberately theatrical. Gaga did serious acting like a real life person in ASIB, not an OTT caricature in a campy musical about a overly modernised spin-off of The Wizard of Oz. The former acting wins Oscars, the latter acting wins MTV awards.

I don't know how many times I have to repeat: a movie's quality doesn't affect an actor's chances of being nominated. There are many movies where an acting nomination was the sole nomination an entire movie gets. It was a unanimous viewpoint among critics that Gaga was the best part of JFAD and should have been in it more. And love it or hate it, people were aware of that movie, so it can't be a case of the critics just didn't see her performance. I think she has every chance of an Oscar chance later in life. But she should've been awarded for ASIB when they had the chance instead of that weird performance Olivia Colman gave in The Favourite. I just don't know what Gaga has to do to get respect for her clearly amazing acting which is better than some full-time actresses.

A flop like Joker 2 is an absolute catastrophe that affects careers of everybody who worked on it. Gaga’s reputation of a successful actress will suffer too. 
 

Hopefully she’ll recover soon after it, we’ll see.

movies dont have to be blockbuster hits to be nominated but joker was panned by critics and fans alike 

if no one likes the movie shes not gonna get nominated whether u wanna accept that or not. 

u can bash ari or olivia coleman its not gonna change the fact that the joker was a huge fail and gaga should take a break from acting to focus on music cuz thats what shes best at

Lots of people didn't like HoG either, a lot of people even found Gaga's performance and accent cringey but she still got acting nominations. Barely won any of them but she was nominated pretty heavily, the only major one she missed out on was the Oscars. Again, HoG was one of those movies where she was considered the best part of it and it worked in her favour last time.

I'd rather she slayed at music than acting as she's a singer first and foremost but I just want to see her get the ultimate acting prize for another very obvious talent of hers. It's super rare for a singer to win an acting Oscar and Gaga deserves to be in that very elite group. If Cher can do it, why can't she?
