If I was a CEO of a big healthcare insurance company, I'd be looking over my shoulder. And maybe, just maybe, start honoring people claims and stop killing people because of greed, apparently the company of the killed CEO had over 15B in profit... Yet, they apparently deny over 30% claims, they have blood on their hands, nobody is surprised this happened, I'm honestly surprised it didn't happen sooner, hopefully this is a wakeup call for the industry (it won't be). Nite 5,913
I read the thread about this over in r/nursing and some of those stories made me genuinely afraid for my relatives in the US and their healthcare. I always knew it was sketchy and expensive but damn the stories are scary.
sarahb 17,187
I'm in this group chat with some people I'm on this program in the US with, and someone mentioned our health insurance is covered by United I said "is that the one whose CEO got shot 💀" Responses I'm getting "I don't see how that's relevant" "The CEO getting shot won't affect you seeing a doctor" Way to miss the point and my sense of humour, ugh, these people will never be my friends Do you feel him sir? Mister G 10,512
I don't wish this extremity on anyone, but as someone that unfortunately has United Healthcare through my employer I have no sympathy. I could spout off an endless laundry list of how nasty they were to my partner when he needed to get injections in his spine for a very badly herniated disc and United denied every claim for months. Then when they finally started to review things, they made him go through Physical Therapy and Chiropractic treatment for them to claim he never completed what was required. And get this, the claims analysts and adjusters for his case were the ones saying he didn't need spinal injections even though the actual medical experts said he needed this treatment and United flat out said no he doesn't. So no, I have 0 sympathy for anyone that makes $10M a year to have one of the highest denial rates and then tell their patients that the medical experts know nothing. United is notorious for gouging prices and premiums for you to basically never be able to use your own insurance. So keeping that in mind, when you affect this level of cruelty onto millions, what do we all think is gonna happen when someone feels they have no other options? Switching insurance companies is not always easier either for many.
