Look i fully agree with the critique of the variant pushing shes done this era with all the voice note memo bollocks.

But this "variant" is essentially the physical release of the 2nd album (TTPD is basically a double album) that's been digital only up until now.

It's not really comparable to the scummy tricks they have pulled with all the digital only variants with 1 new track.

No shade to Taylor's creative output but it truly makes me sad that we're on the brink of WWIII, Trump just won the election again, Gaza has almost been entirely wiped out now by a livestreamed genocide... and Swifties are out there still prioritizing buying 40+ variants of TTPD and likely putting themselves into debt going to her tour.

And before anyone tries to come at me about straw man fallacies I think it's absolutely valid for me to look at the money and numbers generated by Taylor and then think of how many people are prioritizing worshipping this basic white girl like a deity over humanity being snuffed out around us.

Maybe it's really getting to me this time because I live in Vancouver and our city is neck deep in Swiftie promotional overload for the last 3 Eras Tour shows. But I'm beyond f*cking sick of her.

I agree with your attitude in general.  But

Taylor Swift gives away hundreds of millions.

She provides jobs for thousands of people.

She stuck her neck out to try to defeat Trump and he personally tweeted that he hates her.  And frankly those basic white girls are the daughters of the bad people so any time we can take money from them, we should. 

I can think of a lot of artists who do a lot less.

she used fomo as a marketing strategy again - this album was announced as a Target exclusive, and even some big fan accounts tweeted that it would be available in limited quantities


so her fans ran to buy it because they believed it might not be available again, which was not true because it will be available in stores worldwide on December 6
