And there are millions and millions of great people who don't deserve to suffer because they share oxygen with idiots.

I mean, yes, they should have dug a hole and pushed the worst ones in it 20 years ago, but they didn't and now we have to just wait and see.   

Unfortunately the downfall might be the only thing that fixes it and we have to just hope that these people are too incompetent to fully implement their disasterous plans.

I can imagine that Trump will succeed in threatening and successfully blackmailing Brazil, South Africa and India because these countries have little will to fight back and little relative counterweight, but China will not put up with it. China will either impose counter-sanctions that will increase US inflation or, even more elegantly, circumvent the tariffs via third countries, which is actually much better. Trade between Russia and the US is so small that it doesn't really matter how high the tariffs are.

It will take more than 4 years to replace the dollar as world currency. It is likely to happen anyway but not in the very near future.

 Before WWI, there were three global languages: French, English and German and the currencies of these four countries (France, UK, USA, Germany) were equally world currencies. It would be not unusual if the world returns to multiple world currencies rather than the hardly justified monopoly of the dollar.
