What the phonecall released In 2020 does show is that the song morphed a bit more than what taylor was aware of which is kinda to be expected in making music. Taylor's original response was in reaction to being labelled "that bitch". Her first public reaction was a speech at the 2016 Grammys where she spoke about women ignoring people who try to take credit for their success. In response, Kim K alleged that Swift approved the lyrics. Taylor's camp denied ever hearing the "I made that bitch famous" line which is what Taylor Swift referenced in her only response at this point. Next Kanye released the revenge **** Billboard are getting heat for sharing again. Then Kim K released the edited phonecall which we all know now to be fake showing Taylor hearing this specific lyric. The full cut of the phonecall which got leaked in 2020 then proved that Taylor didn't get previewed the lyric she objected to. Here's a breakdown of the call that actually happened: After telling Swift he included a "very controversial line" about her in the song, the pop star nervously asks West what the lyrics are. A wary Swift asks if it's "gonna be mean," and West acknowledges even then-wife Kardashian initially felt it was "too crazy" but had come around. "It's like my wife's favorite f---ing line," he says. "So it says, 'To all my Southside n----- that know me best/ I feel like Taylor Swift might owe me sex," continues West with a chuckle. Responds Swift with a laugh: "That's not mean." Further discussing his proposal to have her release the song, Swift — who expresses relief that the lyrics aren't about her being "that stupid dumb bitch" — tells West she needs to "think about it because it is absolutely crazy." The call ends with Kanye saying he will send her the full song to decide if she wants to promote it on socials like he was asking. Swift states this never ended up happening. Kanye & Kim have never said she was actually sent the full song to promote. And there is no evidence that the full song was ever sent to Taylor Swift to promote. Full breakdown of the feud here: https://people.com/music/kanye-west-famous-inside-his-and-taylor-swifts-relationship-history/#:~:text=February 15%2C 2016: Taylor Swift,Thank you for this moment." Like cmon people. I get some of y'all hate her. But if we're going to talk about a public feud that hasn't had an update in 4 years, lets start with the facts. Its disgraceful that some people have come in here and rather than prioritising the criticism of the largest music industry media outlet sharing revenge ****, they're trying to hate on the victim.

Actually the recorded call was released in response to the statement made by taylors reps after the song was released, ambiguously denying that kanye ever asked taylors permission to do the song. The statement said Kanye only asked for Taylor to promote it on twitter and she even cautioned him againt the misogynistic message which is confusing because on the call she literally hears the lines "Taylor might still OWE me sex" and somehow thinks that's okay compared to saying "I made that bitch famous" ? The lyrics were very problematic from the jump and she knew this but maybe you could argue that she was too timid to say no which is also a stretch seeing how on the phone she actually said she was going essentially defend kanye. https://www.instagram.com/p/BH_QS0lAgCq/?igsh=MWlhamZzMnljd2JsaQ== The reason the reps statement blatantly lies about the fact that Kanye actually ran some of the lyrics by Taylor and sought her consent to some degree is because Taylor didn't know she was being recorded. But she has to take some personal accountability for engaging in kanyes shenanigans in the first place. You can be a fan of her but still be objective in judging complex issues. This video is posted from 16feb 2016. the article by people you posted was made in 2023 and is a perfect of example of people trying to rewrite how this incident actually went down. Rewriting history with direct quotes? Bit like you rewriting the timeline to support your assertion that Taylor Swift changed her response to the song *after* the music video and the backlash it rightly got. Which I've shown is anachronistic. She responded with criticism prior to the music video releasing with imagery akin to revenge ****. So please pull the other one it has bells on it. Here's the unedited statement by TS's publicist from 2016: "Kanye did not call for approval, but to ask Taylor to release his single 'Famous' on her Twitter account. She declined and cautioned him about releasing a song with such a strong misogynistic message. Taylor was never made aware of the actual lyric, 'I made that bitch famous.'" Lets follow it through using the call in full shall we? 1. Kanye & Taylor in the unedited call discuss the song. That is accepted and never denied by any party. 2. Kanye did not ask for approval, he asked Taylor to promote it. That is accurate as per the available full recording from 2020. And is accurate as to the edited 2016 clip. 3. She declined. Accurate as of the 2020 recording leak. 4. Cautioned him about realising a song with a misogynistic message - In the call she never committed to supporting the song and explicitly talked about how happy she was that he wasn't going down the "stupid dumb bitch" route which I think we all agree is misogynistic. And its beyond clear she was only receptive to the idea of the song, which was not played in full to her, on the basis that what she was previewed didn't contain that kind of message. 5. Taylor was never made aware of the I made That Bitch famous lyric. Confirmed as true by the recording leaked in 2020. And solidifies the fact that the only lyric she has ever explicitly criticised has been this one where he takes the credit for his success. Totally on board for a debate topic about whether or not she should have supported the lyrics about them having sex. But that's a topic you're trying to introduce in response to being criticised for jumping into defend a member who was supporting the narrative disproven by the 2020 audio leaking in full & who has yet to actually condemn the revenge **** issue that this forum thread is actually about. Because the post me & futurelover responded to explicitly stated that Kanye & Kim were being smeared by Taylor and that the edited recording they leaked while potentially illegal proved it. That is demonstratably false and has been for 4 years. So I repeat, it is really disappointing in the face of misogyny and sexual harrassment being dragged up again by this Billboard fiasco that members of this forum are letting their morals slide in order to avoid supporting the victim simply because they hate her.

Also, it is hilarious that we should accept a video that predates multiple elements of this issue & pieces of evidence should be accepted but an article that actually covers & directly quotes *every* bit of information available to us through the public domain should be dismissed. Like yes, the 2020 leak did rewrite how the incident went down. Because it proved what Team Swift had said all along about the phonecall having been distorted to suit Kanye & Kim's position. And that the reality of the situation was significantly closer to the version of events put forward by Taylor Swift & her publicist. Can't imagine the " we should ignore new evidence as we look bad in it" would work literally anywhere tbh.

Whatever. I've tried to explain my points as logically as possible and supplied evidence to back it up. I'm not saying Kanye or Billboard is right neither am I jumping in to defend anyone defending them. actually quite the opposite. But Taylor did know about the song and most of the lyrics which her team refuted up until the phone call was released. And this is the fact. If Upon the songs brelease, her reps initial response was" this wasn't what we discussed Kanye", or if she raised cocerns about the very misogynistic part of the lyrics that she was told on the call then maybe i would have a different opinion about her own lack of personal accountability on that particular issue. Feel free to have your own opinion. Edited 8 hours ago by RenegAde

Yes the 2020 "leak" did throw more light on the situation to Taylors credit but it didn't refute the fact that she her consent was sought to some degree, which her reps initially lied about. It also doesn't refute the fact that she knew the song contained misogynistic and problematic lyrics and offered to defend him. Which judging by her reaction upon the songs release you would never believe such conversations were had prior. To some, It seemed like her major grevience was that he invalidated her self made success, which she's entitled feel to but it also speaks volumes about what matters to her Edited 8 hours ago by RenegAde

Taylor & her publicist's statement explicitly criticised the one part of the song you accept they weren't shown. And you've just said that if they did that you'd be fine with it lol. And like that's what they did? Her rep is correct in that Taylor's consent for the lyrics they criticise was not obtained. The 2016 statement you keep attacking deliberately specified the lyric they object to and you accept that Taylor was never shown this lyric. So you're literally making up a false narrative. 4 minutes ago, RenegAde said: To some, It seemed like her major grevience was that he invalidated her self made success, which she's entitled feel to but it also speaks volumes about what matters to her I think it speaks volumes about how you treat women if you don't see the issue with a man claiming he's the reason a woman is successful. It speaks volumes that you think its acceptable for a man to invalidate a woman's hard work. And I think it speaks volumes about you that when a man invalidates a woman's hard work and takes credit you support him and criticise the woman for being opposed to it.

Fck I luv Art 914
Wow... This is unbelievable, how can they even explain that ? They have a whole team... How ? When I saw those images when I was 11yo, I thought it was real, I was shocked... But now I know where it comes from, all I can say is eww. I hate how ppl think they can do what they want with someone's public image just bc they're famous. And It's terrifying that some ppl used AI to post inappropriate pictures of this girl, who's one of the least sexualized pop singer. They did this to other famous women bc ppl are porks and to non-famous ppl too which is unacceptable... But that's just insane. Now Billboard use these offensive pictures on their official page. I'm literally doing non of this so why do you keep making assumptions about my beliefs? Discrediting a woman's success is misogynistic but claiming a woman owes you sex doesn't sound any better. And the fact that Taylor didn't acknowledge that on the phone is funny considering her takes on misogyny following this. The fact that you refuse to recognise the nuances of this particular issue or the deflection and lack of personal accountability by Taylor reps initial reaction/statement is surprising because I expect you to be objective or atleast not try to intentionally take my words out of context and accuse me defending Kanye and much less Billboard for this mess. I guess when the stan hat comes on the thinking cap has to go off. We can agree to disagree on this issue.
