IWantYourLove 1,083
She should sue or smth tbf like Jesus Christ sh*t like this really rubs me the wrong way. It would be weird enough if, say, they went and sought for an old image that she’d put out there herself - like that would still be really f*cking weird. But it’s even creepier and grosser that they did this. I’m actually appalled. Not sure why I thought the industry disrespecting women like this was in the past. They’d never even conjure up the thought of doing this to a man, I guarantee. It’s really disappointing that this was ok’d by however many people it would’ve had to go through to be published (not sure how it works for social media, but it’s probably going to be at least two people that looked at this and thought it was appropriate). Did not see defending TS coming up in my future, but here we are

The line Kanye told Taylor about was "Taylor might owe me sex", and she reluctantly okay'ed while inferring that it was misogynistic and worth editing. She wasn't asked about the final lyrics (especially calling her "that b*tch"), she was never played the song, and she didn't consent to the video concept. 2

This is the same as relying on a NDA to lie about a situation to me. Yeah not legal, but I'd also pull receipts if I was just being smeared publicly like she attempted to do.

I mean as others have pointed out Kanye & Kim not only illegally recorded the call. They then edited it to present a false narrative. And we that to be the case because in 2020 the full phonecall was leaked and it backed up Swift's long maintained version of events. So why are you yet again in a Taylor Swift related topic chatting absolute ****. Like this thread is about a woman being on the receiving end of what is essentially sexual harrasment. And you're acting like this.

What are you even talking about? I don't know if you don't know what actually happened or are just purposefully getting the story wrong because you don't like her, but she didn't lie about the situation. She told the truth about what their conversation was (that she okayed one specific line reluctantly, but was not told what the rest would be nor about the video). Kim & Kanye are the ones who lied. They edited the video to make it appear she was agreeing to all of it, when that's not what happened. So they smeared her publicly and turned the whole media tide against her and only when she had already been the subject of all of that and released reputation did the actual truth come to light. Bobina 1,276
The context makes it way worse and is the bigger issue, IMO. The fact that it's next to Kayne's and that lyric is playing is just sleazy.

Considering the circumstances and how taylor reacted to the song, Billboard is absolutely wrong for using this clip especially on a post that is meant to be a celebratory, just like everyone in this thread is saying. However the truth is taylor did act like she knew nothing about the song when it was released because she didn't know she was being recorded. What the phonecall released In 2020 does show is that the song morphed a bit more than what taylor was aware of which is kinda to be expected in making music. What made taylor look disingenuous is that the part she consented to is just as bad as the line that was added later on. Knowing taylor, if she's had a valid claim, legal actions would have been taken, and that song would be taken down. I believe what really happened was that realisation set it only once she actually saw everything in context and how people were reacting to the video. I don't want to derail this thread because I truly feel she was done dirty here, but I don't appreciate how Swifties have tried to change the narrative and basically gaslight everyone on this issue.
