Drake sues UMG & Spotify over scheme to artificially inflate Kendrick’s Not Like Us

Drake has initiated legal action against Universal Music Group and Spotify over allegations that the two companies conspired to artificially inflate the popularity of Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us.”

In a filing Monday (Nov. 25) in Manhattan court, Drake’s Frozen Moments LLC accused UMG of launching an illegal “scheme” involving bots, payola and other methods to pump up Lamar’s song — a track that savagely attacked Drake amid an ongoing feud between the two stars.

If Spotify was transferring Drake's streams to Kendrick's songs I would understand sueing but this... idk  But there are definitely streaming farms out there & payola to boost chart positions, we all know it, it would be cool to get an official confirmation from the court that artists inflate their numbers in such way

not like us was the diss track that ended him, a direct response to his diss tracks, and now he's getting lawyers involved? His hip hop image will be ruined by this, regardless of win or lose or if he's right or wrong.

I know it's far fetched but A bar song somehow securing no1 for another week  just in time for kendrick to "break" the streak is also fishy.

Even though drake is problematic and is doing this selfishly, the fishy tactics in the industry right now needs to be talked about. Nothing makes sense anymore.

Also, I feel like Street credibility and hip pop image  is so overrated. A bunch of men with skewed morals is not the crowd anyone should be trying to appeal to anyway.

it just seems a self-inflicted wound at this point, he should just let this blow over and pick another battle imo

and while overrated and definitely more of a thing of the past street cred is still very much a thing in hip hop,  that's exactly why drake is on this very poor position right now, because he tried to play the part of the tough guy, it's kind of ironic you bring that up

Also, this is the same guy that claimed to be on MJ level up until recently, he's not doing this for good reasons, he's doing this for petty reasons.

 

and i'd be shocked if this actually goes forward, drake is literally the most pushed spotify artist of all time and now he's mad because people than listen to hip hop got recommended not like us ie the biggest hip hop song of 2024, the levels of delusion are off the charts
