Canada Sending $250 Bonus Checks + Removing Sales Tax For 2 Months On Essentials

Trudeau announced a couple days ago that the sales tax will be removed for 2 months on essentials such diapers, food and clothing as a tax break for low income and middle class

 

In addition $250 bonus checks will be sent to everyone in workforce who earned less than $150,000

 

The measure is expected to cost Federal Government $6B. There will be an additional loss of revenue for Provinces as well that have their Sales Tax harmonized with the Federal Government (HST) and as such automatically must apply the sales tax break as well

This reeks of desperation. He is on the way out, I doubt stuff like this will save him and his party.

This rather random and expensive tax cut and bonus checks are clearly a desperate attempt to buy voter support amid horrible approval ratings but ill take the free money

 

This isnt gonna save their election in 2015 tho. Even some Liberal Leaning ppl are saying they are willing to vote Conservative so Trudeau gets kicked out of office

To Conservatives are almost guaranteed to win a majority Government which guarantees them power for 5 years... and the left wing NDP might actually win more seats this time than the Liberals (Centre Wing) pushing Trudeaus party to 3rd place

 

I dont think the Liberals have been in 3rd place Federally for many many years thought currently in my Province they are.

That will cost a lot in the future for the canadians. Portugal did the same with a 125€ check and it just got worse after the "good" 2/3 months.

Although this was kinda predictable. In Canada Liberals and Conservatives have swaped power every 8 to 10 years like clock work with just a few exeptions to this

 

Trudeau is on year 9 and will be 10 next year. As usual ppl get tired of current government and want a change
