can't we just appreciate the fact that a queer rapper of color creates music in the pop realm (instead of making fun about chart-success)??? He's the diva, he's the icon (even if he's not the moment :trollga::firega:

Didn’t you know? Little managers LOVE charts… except when it comes to Disease flopping. Then it’s all about fan service and good vibes.

Honestly this is a great song, I hope his album has more songs like it. I tend to prefer his deeper cuts over his big singles

What's your favorite(s)?

C7osure, Void, and Lost in the Citadel are my trifecta. Tales of Dominica has grown on me a lot too for the biographical reasons :bradley:

Shout out to Holiday too but mostly for the "hee hee I'm bad as Michael Jackson DUN DUN DUN" bit lmaooo

All great ones that you mentioned! Lost in the Citadel, Void, Tales of Dominica, Don’t Want It, Life After Salem, etc are all favorites. C7osure is by far my favorite from his first ep

It's weird to see people begging for his downfall. A non-problematic young gay black man whose music has brought me to tears many times and stans drool over the thought of him crashing and burning.

He worked his ass off to get to where he is. A rough home life and no handouts. I'm streaming idc.

I agree, but he did mess things up pretty badly for himself with the whole Jesus thing.

Some themes are better left untouched and he also lacked tact and polish. The video was badly produced, badly written, it was simply a mess bordering on cringe to some and extremely offensive to others.

As long as his finances are in order, I mean he’s already easily set for life. With even just Old Town Road I’d imagine. So yes - love to see a Black gay pop musician make his art, which is definitely still very good even if he’s falling off commercially. I’m not even the biggest fan of his, but kinda love the silver lining of when things like this happen and it means a lot of diehard fans are the ones to stick around support the artist making their art. Honestly I really wouldn’t quite say this is a FLOP. I think we use that word a bit too loosely 🤣

much love to you lil flop x ❤️

(seriously tho)

I genuinely don’t understand how people expect a gay man to consistently stay on top as long as his music is explicitly about his gay relationships and self. It’s just not GP oriented at all, and that’s the unfortunate truth. People won’t relate the same way they do to straight music even if gay people have always managed to relate to straight music and support these artists. I think it’s awesome that he had the insane run he did, I mean 3 nr. 1s? Not many can say that! And idc that he had to pull some gimmicks, he did what he had to do, ok?
